Special teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo and defensive end Alex Brown were named first alternates, Jones and defensive end Adewale Ogunleye were chosen as second alternates and tight end Desmond Clark was tabbed as a third alternate.

Desmond Clark?

Marcedes would look good in a Bears uni (too bad he'll long be gone by the time the Bears draft).

Of course he'll be gone by the last pick.

The CBS Sportsline Harmon Forecast:

*Green Bay 17 Chicago 16 -- Christmas Day, Lambeau Field, Bears-Packers -- usually, it doesn't get better than that. Green Bay would love to end a disappointing season by beating its longtime rival.

Hilarious...I seriously don't think they've picked the Bears all year.

6 Pro Bowlers for the Bears.

Urlacher

Vasher

Kruetz

Brown

Briggs

Tommie Harris

wow. congrats to those guys. Kruetz shouldn't be listed and Wale should be.

kreutz is the best center in the NFL, and there's not even a question about it anymore.

Personally, I think the OL Pro Bowl selections are based entirely on reputation. I was probably overreaching with my statement but I'd still take Kevin Mawae over Kruetz. Olin had a terrible season in '04 and definitely didn't deserve to make it. This year, I think its as much lack of other pro bowl caliber C in the NFC than Kruetz's great season.

notice that i said "anymore". mawae was kreutz's only competition for a long time, and now, there's no one close. mawae is no longer in the same class as kreutz.

kreutz's "terrible" season in 04 was primarily the result of having to cover for a terrible line. there were times last year when he knew that qasim couldn't handle someone, so he would pull, run over to the LT position and block the DE himself. there were several times last year when mitchell got beat, only to be saved by a pulling kreutz.

kreutz had to play 5 positions last season, this year, he only has to play 1.

i guess the only weak link is scott/tank, and those guys aren't really weak links.

I would hardly call tank and ian scott weak links. Tank has 4 sacks this year while only playing 20-25% of the snaps. Also keep in mind that it is only his second year and he has had to work his way into playing time. Boone also has 1.5 sacks. The amount of production we have gotten from our 4 DTs this year is really good.

if you look hard, i wasn't calling them weak link, either. good players, but probably the only non-pro-bowl caliber players on that defense.

i could be wrong, though.

From Jason Whitlock's column on espn's Page 2:

1. Watching Brett Favre play the second half of the season, it's obvious Favre wants to play with Reggie Bush. What Favre doesn't realize is Bush wants no parts of playing in Green Bay. Rumor has it, one of the stipulations Bush has given potential agents is he wants an agent who can guarantee he won't play in Green Bay.

I don't blame him -- it gets pretty damn cold there in the winter. Plus, it's the Packers for crying out loud.

interesting...I'm not putting much stock into it yet though considering it's from some guy I've never heard of. Plus this "rumor" hasn't been talked about anywhere else. All I've heard from Reggie's mouth is that he would love to go to the Jets.

if bush doesn't want to play in green bay, that's fine by me. but i won't ever consider him a football player.

football was meant to be played in cold weather. if fans can sit there and freeze their butts off at lambeau in december, he should be able to go out there and put on a show for them. if he refuses to play in GB, i hope he gets severely injured the first time he puts on pads in cold weather, i hope he never plays the game again and has to go to work alongside curtis enis at the garage door factory in paris, ohio, 3rd shift.

that's right, i wish injury on him, just like i wish injury on any player who refuses to play where they're drafted, just like i wish injury on any player who refuses to play in cold weather. maybe he should just wear a grass skirt and play the freaking ukelele on the sidelines in a dirty, crime-infested city like houston or phoenix.

the NFL doesn't need a player like that. if it really is the case, he should just go back to school and pull some college wool like leinart did. better yet, he can just stay in socal and forget that california isn't the only state in the union.

i agree 100%. He's going to get a signing bonus that is going to be higher than $20 million...why would it matter where the heck you play if your getting payed that kind of money? The last thing the NFL needs is another spoiled brat like Eli Manning.

Gotta love crazy Favre love....from CNNSI's fantasy forecasts:

QB Brett Favre The Bears will present a tough challenge to Favre, but as stated above, he may just have two home games left. You gotta think he'll go out in style. 230 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

Palmer and Dilfer are the only 2 QB's to throw 2 TD's all year against the Bears. Favre hasn't thrown for one TD in the past 3 games, much less two!

Everyone is bagging on Eli Manning yet his decision likely saved his career. How Philip Rivers doing lately? 8 career passing attempts in 2 years from the 4th overall pick? It doesn't look likely that'll change either unless he orchestrates some trade. The best case scenario is he starts as essentially a rookie at age 25ish.

Maybe it was a prissy move by Eli, but he sure came out smelling like roses.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Rivers dealt to Arizona for a first and third rounder.

People will forget about it. Elway did the same thing (to the Colts). Very rarely is that ever mentioned.

People will forget, if you make up for it later on. But the local fans will never forget. I can forgive a guy for stearing clear of a certain team. But if a pattern develops where similar selfish decisions are made, I'll hold it against you.

I've heard rumors of Rivers to the Jets for Jonathan Vilma, and maybe picks going each way.

I think they have. That "4" looks like urine.

Nah. A little too green. That wouldn't make sense unless they moved their practices to Zion.

Apparently Urlacher, Hillenmeyer and Brendon Ayanbadejo built it.

Stand in line, I've been wishing injury on him since his freshman year.

That is hilarious, though.
