Initially, I had some worries about this game. However, the more I think of I, it seems pretty unlikely that we lose. I think we'll dominate the line of scrimage with our lines and both Farve and Gado are eager to give the ball up. I think with turnovers, we'll get the ball in some excellent field position and turn those into easy scores.

In regards to Tillman, I think he's beginning to catch a little too much heat. Tillman has been better since the Browns game. Even last game, the deep ball to Galloway was perfectly thrown and Tillman had good coverage. He's also a strong tackler. People are acting like he's actually a bad corner. He's not the best but he's good. While I do think that Vasher is better in coverage, he's also playing against most of the Teams #2. If our #1 corner wasn't at least "good" we surely wouldn't have the #1 pass defense in the NFL.

Tillman is a pretty good CB. He's in the top 1/2 of the league's #1 CBs (i.e. the guys who cover the #1 WR primarily). In the NFL everyone gets beat. He's not giving up TDs, and he's been there in coverage most of the time, just catches have been made.

The fact that he has been going against wideouts that have been burning corners all year probably has something to do with it as well.

My prediction: The Bears will dominate this game, control the ball, field position and limit GB's scores. The final score will not reflect the true amount of dominance over GB, but Bears victory will never be in doubt.

Favre will look like the shell of an athlete he is, his touchdown thrown streak against the Bears will decease, much like her talent already has.

I agree completely. I know it's deeply ingrained to fear the Packers, but I just don't see Lovie not having this team prepared for GB. Maybe I should be worried, but I'm not.

Lovie Smith isn't the kind of coach to let this team just look past the Packers. The fans are gonna be crazy, the team is gonna be pumped, and the Packers do not stand a chance. Favre has been trying to force a lot of passes in this year and against this defense, he will throw 3 picks if the does that. That is, of course, if he's even still standing by the 3rd quarter.

I am not even close to being worried about this game.

I'm not worried. Favre isn't the old, evil gunslinging Favre of the past. He's aging, his accuracy is down, his line is much weaker, and the running game is sub-par. The reason Favre was so consistently deadly against the Bears was the complete lack of a defensive pass rush for so many years. When you have to bring 6 to get to the QB, that leaves the corners one-on-one with the WR's. And we know that Farve will throw the ball up -- he doesn't care about a possible interception when his guys are one-on-one. But, if the front four gets penetration and keeps collapsing the pocket without a lot of blitzing, the Bears will dominate this game. Being able to drop seven into coverage against Favre while still getting to him will lead to a couple of picks.

The Bears will win this game, the D will complete dominate Favre and the Packers while TJ and Adrian chew up the lack of defense. Orton just needs to be smart and let the RB's do their thing while he hits the smart passes.

Not related to this game but, anyone thinking that Detroit might be looking at Rivera this off-season as a possible HC?

Maybe, but they need an influx of offensive thinking to turn around that disaster. I don't think Millen will use up his last chance on such a coach as Rivera.

And if somebody does take Ron, I'm not all that worried. Lovie is the mastermind of this defense. Rivera's influence is from Philly and Johnson, which is a blitz all the time defense, while the Bears don't blitz. I see Lovie finding a very good replacement if Ron leaves.

He's coaching in SF right now.

I don't think they'll go specifically on a offensive guru again (Mooch), they'll look for an up and coming coach and I think they have the potential to go after Rivera.

Brett Favre is to the Bears what Mike Schmidt was to the Cubs. He'll always kill you.

As much as I'd love to have the #1 pick and see Reggie Bush in green and gold next year, I want to take the wind out of the Bears sails as well.

I always am reminded of the fact that when you guys went 13-3 a few years ago, two of those losses were against the Packers.

But the Packers were actually good that year. They went to the playoffs. Not so with this Packers team.

Tell us how you really feel about Favre.... Give me a break, he's getting older yes, but he is still a very good QB. Kinda hard to have a decent year when you have noone to play with. You don't think his consecutive start streak is impressive?

I think Favre might get hurt in this game if he really thinks patience is the answer to beat this team. That being said this is the NFL and any team can win on any given Sunday. I think the Bears will win.

I agreed with you until you said his starts streak was impressive. The way this team is looking right now, there's no reason Brett shouldn't at least let Aaron Rodgers see a few series per game to see how he fits in with the offense.

i would love to beat the Bears at least once, but I don't see it as a realistic option. No matter what happens, win or lose on Sunday, I'll be fine with whatever happens. Beat the Bears on Sunday and I can brag how the worst Packers team in my lifetime beat "a team destined for Detroit." Lose to the Bears and Reggie Bush is that much closer for us.

Bears are going to win though, 17-10.

if Favre comes back next year, there is no point in really seeing Rodgers get playing time this year. I would like to see him get some snaps in, but I don't think Sherman is going to do it. It's still Favre's team and it will be his team until he retires.

and b2ck, give me a freaking break about how his talent has decreased. Look at the players around him. Were on our 5th string RB. Antonio freaking Chatman is our 2nd receiver (and he's actually been a surprise this year.) Our offensive line has a center playing out of position in Scott Wells and a 7th round rookie guard, Will Whitticker. Bubba Franks, Favre's favorite red zone threat, has been hurt for the first time in his career this year. There is NOTHING around him, period.

Farve's "very good" days are behind him. He's average now and has been an increasing liability over the last few years. Can he still tear it up every once and a while? Sure. But the days when he is unstoppable are now much rarer than the days in which he throws frequent crushing interceptions.

I wouldn't say always. He didn't kill us last year when we won in Lambeau. I just think Favre's days of domination are over. I think the front four will just dominate the Packers o-line and Favre will be out of the pocket quite often.

But hey, it's a great rivalry, here's to a good game!

Favre is a good QB, and I'd love to have him on my team. The fact is that the offensive line is a shell of itself. The offensive line makes or breaks an offense much more so than a running back or a quarterback. Look at Plummer in Arizona vs. Denver, for example. I betcha David Carr agrees... Personally, If I had to choose, I'd take a great o-line over a great rb/qb combo any day. A great o-line will make an average qb or rb good. A great rb/qb combo will not make an average o-line good.

Quit giving me goosebumps! Singletary back in the Bears organization would be awesome! The intelligence that made him the one of the best linebackers to play the game is also a huge asset as a coach. Apparently he was also a very successful motivational speaker before deciding to take up coaching, so i'm sure he'd have no problem getting the team jacked up for ANY opponent. I love the job Rivera's done so far, but if he gets stolen away like the bums over at ESPN seem to think he will, Angelo had better give Singletary a shot.

Posted
If Rivera does get a HC job, whether it be in Det., STL, Hou, etc., I would hope that Singletary would be 1st one looked at for DC.

As the assistant head coach, I believe his position means you can't get him out from under his current contract.

And while it certainly sounds good, I'd much rather Lovie find a guy he knows can run his system rather than try to relive the glory days by going after the right name. If Mike is available and Lovie thinks he can do the job, I'm all for it, but he did ignore Singletary when he first put his staff together.

I know the Bears are good and I know the Packers are really bad, but I still am very apprehensive about this game. I don't envision the Bears really putting any teams away this season. Almost all of the games won during the current win streak have been at least relatively close. I envision the samething on Sunday. Brett Favre always scares me but I'm looking for the Bears to win 14-6. I'll also be at the game freezing my behind off.

You could simply ask for permission as the majority of elite promotions have entailed. Singletary had only one year of experience in Balt. when Singletary was hired unlike Rivera who was established in Philly.

Rivera was unfamiliar with the C-2 before beinbg hired by the Bears.

If Orton doesn't find some receivers downfield, I really worry about this game. A one dimensional offensive attack is too predictable.

you REALLY need to specify that these receivers be wearing navy and not green. Every time orton throws deep I bet on an interception. I'm over .500 on these bets. He's actually the worst quarterback on any level I've ever seen at throwing a ball farther than 20 yards.

Posted

The only way the Bears lose is if Orton craps the bed and throws a pick or two for a TD, which is entirely possible of course. But I see both lines of scrimmage taking control of this game.

Orton's picks tend to be (not to drive it into the ground) deep lofts, which are the hardest to return. I'm not terribly worried about that. I guess I'm really only worried about flukes (83 yard run when 2 safeties trip over a linebacker or soemthing)

A) gado doesn't scare you, brin?

B) it really is nice to have a defensive line that can get to the QB. We went from amazingly bad at that (did we have any d-line sacks 3 years ago?) to really good in less than a year, and it's been a lot of fun to watch.
