Anyone else as excited about this game as I am?

I just hope I don't have to see Noah Herron in a Packers uniform on the field.

The Packers have helped Carolina already this season by beating Atlanta a few weeks ago. Wonder if they can do it again this week at the Spaceship.

I'm going to devote at least 6 hours to this game. If it's good, I'll watch it again on shortcuts. you don't often get to see the bears pummel the packers to take the lead in the race for home field

Green Bay (2-9) at Chicago (8-3)

Upset of the year. Of the Millennium. I guess I'm a sucker for Brett Favre at Soldier Field. He hasn't lost there since Red Grange played at Wrigley.

On SI's homepage, there's a picture of Brett with captions that fellate him:

Upsetting Feeling

There could be a flurry of upsets among the NFC's elite teams this weekend, says SI.com's Peter King, with Brett Favre primed to conquer Soldier Field again despite a woeful 2-9 mark.

and,

Brett Favre is 21-5 as a starter against the Bears, including 11-1 at Soldier Field, with a 26-game streak with a touchdown pass.

The only reason I'm glad Favre is still starting and continuing his phony games started streak is because his all-time records against the Bears will suffer.

I'm salivating anticipating December 4 and December 25. If that pear-shaped loser won't make the right decision and sit Favre, then I hope Alex Brown or Adewale Ogunleye ends his streak.

Somehow the mismatch this year takes some luster off this game. Plus, I don't think beating the Packers is any more important than beating Detroit or Minnesota

All division games are equally important. The "rivalry" aspect of the Bears-Packers just serves as motivating tool.

I find it amusing that like Cubs vs. Sox, this rivalry is not perceived equally from both sides. Bears fans HATE the Packers, Packers fans HATE........the Vikings.

I was just about to make that point.

Bear fans, no hard feelings when Brett picks apart your defense once again. He may not be what he once was, but he's still good enough to lay a beatdown on the Bears.

I actually feel less comfortable about this game than I did for the Carolina and Tampa Bay games (Carolina losing won me an authentic Bears jersey and Tampa Bay losing won me "Rockzilla" at Red Lobster).

If Orton doesn't find some receivers downfield, I really worry about this game. A one dimensional offensive attack is too predictable.

If Orton is ineffective in the first half, I hope Lovie will consider making a change. I'd like to see Orton succeed, but I worry his ineffectiveness last week will have a negative effect on him each time he drops back to pass.

All those sideline dumps to Justin Gage worry me as well, since those are the easiest to pick off and return for touchdowns.

Green Bay is 2-9, but they might be the best 2-9 team in the history of the NFL.

I was nervous about this game on Monday and Tuesday. But with all the talk of an upset, it's no longer possible that the Bears look past this team. I'm feeling pretty good about this game, at least as good as I felt about the other NFC North games.

GB might be the best 2-9 team out there, but they're the worst "scored more than they've given up" team, considering that was all due to one game. They won't run the ball on the Bears, and they will turn it over.

The only way the Bears lose is if Orton craps the bed and throws a pick or two for a TD, which is entirely possible of course. But I see both lines of scrimmage taking control of this game.

That's exactly how I feel. This is a trap game. Carolina and TB before, Pittsburgh and Atlanta after. This game is too easy on paper to end up that way. With the way the Bears played against Cleveland, anything can happen in this one. It won't. But it could.

It's not a pure trap game, nor is it all that similar to the Cleveland game. The Bears didn't really arrive until after the Car/TB wins, which means there wasn't a ton of buildup to those game, which lessens the whole letdown factor. Trap games usually come after a highly touted team plays an emotional game against a bigtime opponent at home, then goes on the road to face a feisty decent, but underrated team. That TB game wasn't all that emotional. If this game was in GB, I'd smell a trap. The Cleveland game was on the road. They also played somewhat sloppily in TB, which may have been more of a trap game, since it was on the road.

I also don't think there's a lot of build-up for that Pittsburgh game next week. If next week was the ATL game, I could see it. But it's a non-conference road game.

The thing they'll have to watch out for is the X-mas game in GB, the week before a potentially huge matchup against MINN and the week after a potentially huge prime time game against ATL.

tomato/tomatoe. We define trap game differently. The point is, this isn't gonna be a cakewalk for the Bears.

Probably not, but it could be. This defense has the ability to completely destroy GB and their shaky O line. But of course, Favre could make some crazy plays and pull it out in the end.

Aside from postseason aspirations, I'd rather be the Bears in this game than GB.

This game worries me for the simple fact that Tillman continues to get burned every week, and all Favre has to do is find Peanut's receiver on numerous occasions, and we're toast.

:(

If it were that easy to beat the Bears, they wouldn't be 8-3.

Initially, I had some worries about this game. However, the more I think of I, it seems pretty unlikely that we lose. I think we'll dominate the line of scrimage with our lines and both Farve and Gado are eager to give the ball up. I think with turnovers, we'll get the ball in some excellent field position and turn those into easy scores.

In regards to Tillman, I think he's beginning to catch a little too much heat. Tillman has been better since the Browns game. Even last game, the deep ball to Galloway was perfectly thrown and Tillman had good coverage. He's also a strong tackler. People are acting like he's actually a bad corner. He's not the best but he's good. While I do think that Vasher is better in coverage, he's also playing against most of the Teams #2. If our #1 corner wasn't at least "good" we surely wouldn't have the #1 pass defense in the NFL.

Going to school in Wisconsin as a Bears fan, I think that there is an underlying respect to the Bears/Packers rivalry as compared to the Vikings/Packers rivalry, which is about pure unadultered hatred. Of course, this could start to change if both Green Bay and Chicago are good and competitive at the same time.

My prediction: The Bears will dominate this game, control the ball, field position and limit GB's scores. The final score will not reflect the true amount of dominance over GB, but Bears victory will never be in doubt.

Favre will look like the shell of an athlete he is, his touchdown thrown streak against the Bears will decease, much like her talent already has.

Tillman is a pretty good CB. He's in the top 1/2 of the league's #1 CBs (i.e. the guys who cover the #1 WR primarily). In the NFL everyone gets beat. He's not giving up TDs, and he's been there in coverage most of the time, just catches have been made.

Hey, it's not the Bears' fault other QBs and offensive coordinators are stupid. Favre, however, I think will find that hole on Sunday.

Now that I think more deeply into this, I wonder how determined Green Bay will really be to win this game. With one of the worst records in football, holding out for the #1 pick (Reggie Bush?) wouldn't be the worst thing they did.

Just make it look good and keep it close? Or is the rivalry too important for Green Bay to just let the Bears go off and win the division? That much more important than the #1 pick?

Tillman does get burned on occasion. As mentioned previously, every corner gets burned at one point or another. Reading the minds of quarterbacks and receivers and their routes is tough business.

My take on Tillman is the Tampa game was the first game where he got burned on a play, but didn't have that "big" play to balance the scales. In the previous games, I felt he did something big after a gaff. But, that's just me.
