Rich Hill and Sergio Mitre...and a PTBNL

for

Juan Pierre

Done...where do I sign?

Murton in LF, Pierre in CF...who in RF? Wilkerson would look nice...

Pierre

Furcal

Lee

Ramirez

Wilkerson

Barrett

Murton

Cedeno

Me likey.

I could live with Wilkerson in CF but I am not sure he thrills me in RF batting 5th. He only hit .248 with 11 HR's last year. His OPS was pretty much the same as Burnitz.

Apparently Wilkerson had shoulder problems last year which gave him trouble swinging the bat. If he goes back to '03 and '04 form (.844 and 872 OPS) I will gladly take him in right.

ROTOWORLD's latest take (sorry if it's a repost):

ESPN Radio 1000 is reporting that the Cubs are close to acquiring Juan Pierre from the Marlins for a pair of minor leaguers.

No Corey Patterson? We hope the Cubs wouldn't give up Felix Pie for one year of Pierre. Parting with pitching prospects, say Rich Hill along with Sean Marshall or Renyel Pinto, would be preferable. Nov. 14 - 7:27 pm et

Pierre would get an extension; it wouldn't be a 1 year thing

Someone on MarlinsBaseball.com said "I heard Patterson and Aardsma." Certainly seems feasible.

I'd really like a 1-2 of Pierre-Furcal, what an upgrade that would be over past years. Those two could strive at Wrigley, but most importantly they'd get on in front of Lee and Ramirez.

I really believe Pierre's season last year was a fluke, I expect him to go back to 2003 or 2004 form. Actually he was pretty good last season as well aside from the first two months of the season.

If it's true that Hendry wouldn't give up Hill for Dunn I hope to God he wouldn't trade him for Pierre.

Anyone think Pie will be ready in 2005? Or we still may have a chance for Giles?

um....... 2005....???

:x 2006. *gets reality check*

If it's Patterson and Aardsma, then it would be a good trade. Aardsma needs to be removed from the 40-man roster anyway.

Patterson and Aardsma would be a very fair deal. Aardsma sure doesn't look like a prospect anymore.

Ha!!! Made my way over to Marlinsbaseball.com to see what they have heard about the possible trade. There's a bunch of them hoping the trade is for Pie and Murton.

I agree with you. I just really for some reason want those two to be paired up with each other in front of Lee and Ramirez.

Anyone else just browsing this topic again and again waiting for official updates?

yeah. I've gone one further. I'm listening to 560WQAM Miami to see if they're talking about anything. I figure there's got to be a couple of people here listening to Chicago radio hoping for updates. I figure I'd cover all the bases.

NONONONONONO. NOT AARDSMA. He's my personal most anticipated player. Especially since he has a nasty knucklecurve and he is the first one of the list when you put every baseball player in alphabetical order.

Wow, how bad was Aardsma? Last I heard he was "Mr. Future Closer". Did he get teed up on in the minors this year?

Yeah, he did pretty bad this year. Pretty much took himself out of prospect status. Didn't do much better in winter ball either.

Man, does anyone even care about the Marlins in Miami? I've been listening to Miami sports talk online for the past 45 minutes and they haven't mentioned anything about the Marlins. They've had a bunch of call-ins and not a single person has asked about the Marlins. Nothing in their updates either.

Pretty self-explanatory. *looks at attendance*

It's a good thing their "deserving" fans have gotten two World Series in their history.

I'd imagine it's the same as here in Chicago... unless it's a baseball-specific segment, they're not going to talk baseball in November.
