  1. Hopefully tonight is a case of Javy showing good patience rather than the opposing pitchers blatantly pitching around him after his 4 home run game.
  2. You gotta think his comment on Twitter may have reflected this. Keeping it in house is the right thing to do, but still......Would be nice to know if there may have been some sort of incident. I can certainly imagine him telling a coach to [expletive] off. The comment on twitter was shortly after he posted "Go Heat!" and a bunch of Bulls fans jumped all over him for it and said he should be a Bulls fan.
  3. They played the radio portion of the broadcast in the documentary and Ronny was not in the booth. It was Pat and Steve Stone and they didn't say anything about the fans during the play. I remember Ron not being able to announce during those playoffs but I can't remember the reasoning.
  4. Starlin's walked 5 times in his last 9 games. Nothing spectacular, but considering he only had 21 in his first 127 games of the season, I don't think we need to worry about him being more aggressive.
  5. Deadspin article with video of the whole 7 minute rant- http://deadspin.com/5833165/ It's pretty hilarious that they are praising Barney towards the end while he has his glove off and reaching for seeds-the same thing they criticized Castro about for the previous six minutes.
  6. I loved hearing McCarver say Castro has "too much range", and that it's a problem because it leads to more errors. What an idiot.
  7. This. Wells basically matched his peripherals from 2009, the only difference was a BABIP that was 26 points higher in 2010. Hopefully he can put the off-the-field stuff aside and have his best year yet in 2011.
  8. 1 yr/10 million according to Muskat's Twitter. If it actually is only for 1 year then this is a good deal for Hendry. Pena had 3 very solid years before last and moving from the AL East to the NL Central should help quite a bit. It's also nice to add a guy who walks almost 100 times a year to the lineup. Could very easily see him rebounding to the tune of a .900 OPS next year, though I'd expect something closer to .850. Still, we could've done a lot worse.
  9. I doubt Soriano has another year like that in him. He's 35 next year so I would almost be happy with him repeating his .818 OPS. What we really need is to actually get real production from 1B and 3B. If Ramirez has a comeback year, someone like Dunn comes in to play 1B and Soto repeats (and actually gets over 400 AB) this offense could be pretty good. Castro putting up a .800 to .850 OPS wouldn't hurt either, but I don't know if we can expect that just yet.
  10. Castro killed that ball. 6 XBH and 6 BB for him in his last 9 games. Though I'm not sure how many of those walks were intentional or him being pitched around to get to the pitcher. Either way, great to see him showing some power.
  11. Has anyone mentioned Brad Hawpe yet? If the Rockies don't pick up his option, I wouldn't mind seeing us sign him to a short term deal to play 1B. I'm not sure if he'd want to move to first, but his defense is very poor in the outfield and he was brought up as a 1B before being moved due to Helton. He's not a superstar but he usually has an OBP in the .380s and hits well away from Coors. Plus, he's a lefty!!!
  12. FYP
  13. LOL at pinch hitting for Marshall. What a dumb move.
  14. I hope it's a reverse platoon with Fontenot. That would be hilarious. Kawakami has been much more effective against lefties this year for some reason. His OPS against vs righties is .856 while vs lefties it is .698.
  15. Exactly. He's basically saying that power hitters would be better off making outs than taking walks. Completely absurd.
  16. Read this for a good laugh Looks like Harold and Dusty have been talking. Make sure to read the comments at the bottom as some of them are pretty funny.
  17. wasnt there, can't blame me. plus its the first time we've beaten kansas at home in like THREE GAMES. COME ON RAISIN. Rushing the court is fun. Why do some people hate when other people have fun? I'm not against storming the court at all. If we weren't ranked coming into this game, or weren't as high as we ended up getting in the latest polls, it would've been fine. However, since we were three spots behind kansas in one poll and one behind them in the other, it wasn't something I really wanted to see us do. We're trying to get back to being a nationally-recognized program (for things other than Quin Snyder's drugs, hair, illegal recruiting, etc.), and IMO people don't really take you seriously if you're storming the court after your #17 team beats the #16 team. But as myself and TT said, it wasn't really a full-out storm, so it's no harm no foul in my opinion. I think most schools would've stormed the court if their team had won on a last second shot against their rival school after being down 14 at the half. Not to mention this win basically assured us of a trip to the tourney.
  18. With K-Rod, Wood, Fuentes and Hoffman being free agents and a number of others potential trade targets, it is very possible Wood doesn't get the deal he's looking for. Jayson Stark did a good article on this a couple days ago.
  19. Seriously, some of the people who vote on these things are clueless. Two 1st place votes for Lidge??
