Yes luckily for Illinois fans our best team ever had to be in a year with a professional team in NC. That team was loaded and I really think if Deron or Luther's three would have fallen to take the lead just once we would have won. They were ready to go away, but we couldn't land the knock out punch. I wonder how long it will take until that game stops hurting?

If my KU vs Syracuse or Cubs '03 experience is a an accurate barometer, never.

Yeah the Cubs one I have pretty muched blocked out. But, then every year since then someone has had to end their drought making me think it was our turn and we just pissed it away because we had to pitch to Mike Lowell becuase we didn't want Lenny Harris to beat us in game one. Thank you Dusty. The KU one, sheesh you have already won once in your lifetime and are very good every year. Some of us have to seize the day more than others.

Hopefully when Illinois lands a great 2007 recruiting class and they play together for two years. Even though that UNC game sucks (mostly because I think Illinois played really bad in the first half), that Arizona game is still one of my favorite all time memories of college basketball.

Hell, I still haven't gotten over '84 and '89, I firmly believe the NL's best team was not represented in the '84 and '89 WS. The Cubs were so close in '03, however, at least, the NL's best team was represented in that WS (even though it pains me to write it).

Yeah true. Florida was stacked. Stupid Miguel Cabrera being ready that young.

Well that depends if D. Rose wants to be a legend in his state like Dee Brown, or just some other great player like Corey Magette who went elsewhere. Now I realize that Magette is a much better player, but to the state of Illinois Dee is beloved.

Sadly enough, my favorite college basketball memory isn't even a post-season one - gotta go with the week in December 2002 when Notre Dame beat #10 Marquette, #5 Maryland and #2 Texas in the span of 7 days. That was outstanding.

Well, I'm from Chicago originally, and I wasn't a KU fan until I went there (93-97), so the 88 championship "doesn't count" the way the 'Cuse loss would have. But it is nice to feel like we have a chance more often than not.

I'll agree with others, this field isnt as good as last year. Illini, UNC, UK, MSU, Wisc, Arizona, Wash are all worse. Only a few are better like Nova, UCLA and Texas.

Also this year im not going to be as hopeful for the mid majors doing well as i have been in the past. They got a lot of teams in this tourney that just dont belong. In years past they go into the tourney without any pressure to succeed, this year they will have bullseyes on their back. Im hoping they get there doors blown off.

Indiana, Iowa, Memphis, Iowa, LSU.....there are plenty of teams better than last year. There is no team with the talent of last year's UNC, Illinois, and probably not even Arizona....but there are more good teams than possibly ever.

Memphis final 4, I'm thoroughly unimpresed with their entire bracket.

So am I.

But that includes Memphis, and that's why I picked Raisin's Bruins to go to the title game.

That could be the most difficult region to pick, because there is no dominant team.

I can feel that as I was really to young to enjoy what the Flying Illini was doing. I thought every year would be like that, boy was I wrong. I guess I was just young and dumb enough to think that since we were so close to Chicago we would just always reload.

I am still so pissed about the seeding that I haven't even looked at my bracket yet. I will on Wednesday night. I usually do pretty well. Although the last few years were pretty easy as there were some clear cut dominate fans. That and because of the hours I work I am allowed to watch a lot of college basketball so I know a lot about even some of the lesser known teams.

Considering the options, I went with Kansas, actually.

Now they'll go and lose to Bradley.

SSR, UCLA as a 4-seed?? Why that low?

I figured we'd get a 3-seed.

I wish, but I don't think it will happen.

Don't brackets have to be in before the play-in game (that started 20 minutes ago)?

Most I've seen make you do it before the Thursday games start. Yahoo and Facebook didn't make you pick the play-in game winner, and not too many folk have Nova losing to those folk.

Nearly every bracket doesn't include the play-in game.

Re: UCLA: It pretty much had to do with my absolute disrespect for the Pac 10 this year. Their best wins were against teams I had slotted as 10 seeds. They were my 2nd #4 if that helps at all,

Not in the one I do. Being as no one gives two farts about monmouth.

BSU head coach Tim Buckley was fired today. Inevitable after the new athletic director came in and Buckley had a 10-18 season in response.

Despite the program's recent struggles, BSU still becomes one of, if not the top opening at a mid-major school this off-season. It will be interesting to see if AD Tom Collins makes a "safe" hire or tries to make a big splash for his first major task at Ball State.
