I guess thats one way to look at why the media gets so excited at the prospect of illinois losing. I don't get why Iowa fans stormed the court though. That was just hilarious. I thought it wasn't an upset??? :?

If the Iowa fans didn't storm the court, they'd be disrespecting the Illini program. ;)

Right, you know Illinois has lost like 1 home game the last decade, yet we weren't even mentioned the entire day when they talked about hardest places to play at. But, that's ok just keep acting like our program doesn;t exist and get all fired up when we lose espn. plus doug "credit card" gottlieb tried to compare ther 4 guard system at villanove to our 4 guard system. saying theres were better. First off we only had 3 guards last year, secondly name me one of there guys who will be the third pick in the draft.

Did you see the places they listed for toughest places? It was where those analysts had been. Tom Brennan's from a lower conference in the northeast, and Gottlieb played in the Big 12. You didn't see Duke or most of the toughest places to play on those lists. Sheesh.

Maybe he was confused on all the Assembly Halls in the Big 10 and didn't want to embarrass himself.

KU is playing great so far and UK has been terrible as they have been most of the year.

I think that game said more about UK than KU. Still, I like KU's defense.

I also can't figure out what Patrick Sparks is good for.

Streak shooting, I'd get him out of the starting line-up and either put Bradley or Crawford at the 2 spot.

His loyalty to Sparks is stupid.

They suck so badly on offense, this is the worst teams in 15 years.

YES!!!!!

UCLA wins it 61-60 when gimpy point guard Jordan Farmar layed it in with 3 seconds left! Arron Afflalo hurt his tailbone late in the game and didn't play after the injury - he's been UCLA's best offensive and defensive player all year. I hope it's not too serious because we're screwed if Afflalo doesn't play, especially when we go up to Washington next week.

Do you sit around with a notebook so you can count the number of time Illinois is disrespected?

Who's acting like they don't exist? They are a fine team.

I don't think they will win the Big 10 though. There I go again, disrespecting.

The IU/OSU game was a hell of a game. Both of those teams have a better scoring balance than Illinois. Illinois defense is very good, but IU and OSU's aren't exactly bad.

seriously, I'm sick of hearing illinois fans complain. who frickin' cares?

What the hecl happened to UK? Did all the freshmen figure it out at once?

Inexplicably, Jimmy McKinney decides to masquerade as a basketball player and scores half of Mizzou's first half points. They're down 1 at home against Okie St at the half. Would be a really nice way to start the wide open B12 by holding down home court.

as long as Illinois continues to play defense, they will be in every single game. However, I am scared with their offensive futility in the last 2 games. Dee Brown was why we beat MSU and it's not a coincidence that since he was off, we lost today. The role guys are going to have to start picking up the slack on offense (mainly McBride, Carter, and Pruitt). We also need to be a better FT shooting team if we want to have great success. I'm pretty confident that Bruce will have these guys fired up when they play Michigan next week. I am a lot less confident though in the road games at Indiana, OSU, and MSU.

Strong second half and Mizzou takes it 69-61. With 6 of their first 7 conference games at home, Mizzou has a chance to be a player in the Big 12 if they can take care of business at home and get some confidence. That one road game, a trip to OU, is their next game on Tuesday.

LSU lost by 1 to #2 UCONN. They got beat a few weeks ago by a last second 3 by theOSU. They have a decent team, but I wouldn't be suprised if they don't even make the tourney.

when morris comes back, i'd go:

Rondo and Bradley

Crawford and Moss/Thomas

Morris

What are you guys complaining about?? At least you don't have Stevie Alford for a coach - that is something to complain about.

I see your Steve Alford and raise you a Quin Snyder.

you can always count on quin for one thing: bad analysis during the NCAA tourneys (since he's never there, duh).

Good Grief.

wow, the big 12 must be pretty bad.

It's really bad, particularly the B12 North. We may only get five, even four, teams in the tourney

Do you think Kansas will be one of those teams? I haven't paid very close attention to them this year, but I saw they had a nice win tonight and Rush had a very good game with 24 and 12. How are the young guys adapting? I'm looking forward to getting back into Columbia next weekend so I can make the game on Monday.

I honestly don't know. It was a very nice win today, but Kentucky's quality is extremely suspect. The kids do look like they're getting it, though. the CU game this week should be a good indication. (First real road game, CU has only two losses).

I figure OU and UT are locks.

After that, there are a number of teams that could go:

OSU, KU, aTm, CU, ISU

Teams that I doubt will go:

NU, MU (sorry, but a win against OU will change my opinion), KSU, Tech

and then baylor can't go.

The reality is, though, no team has played well enough to separate themselves. It's just a pretty weak league.

I agree. The league is exceptionally weak this season. I honestly don't see any way Mizzou dances this year, unfortunately. They are coming along as the season moves on, but I fear inconsistency will once again play a huge role in our Big 12 season. However, if somehow Mizzou sneaks into the tournament, I fear it will save Quin's job for another season. It'll be bittersweet, just as the Independence Bowl win was in terms of perhaps saving Pinkel. But hey, it's a long season, we'll see what happens. You gonna make it out to Columbia for the MU-KU game the 17th snood?

Majerus is my favorite announcer, he actually offers something beyond platitudes. He may have favored Iowa somewhat, but that's what the tide of the game was.

Also, it's not hatred of Illinois for ESPN and the media to get excited when they are losing. They've won what, 54 of 55? It's big news when they might get knocked off, just like all the close calls USC had this year that the media jumped all over while in progress.

I guess thats one way to look at why the media gets so excited at the prospect of illinois losing. I don't get why Iowa fans stormed the court though. That was just hilarious. I thought it wasn't an upset??? :?

Who said it wasn't an upset? If Majerus or one of the broadcasters did, they were wrong. You guys were what 54-1 in your last 55 regular season games? Even though a lot of people think we should contend for the conference this year, it's still a big upset.

Bruce had some interesting comments after the game, saying that if Horner doesn't get hurt we're definitely a top 25 team and that we're respected more nationally than we are in our own state. It's sad, but he's right.

It was a great atmosphere yesterday though. Not as many Illini fans as last year, but there was still some decent pockets of orange. They were incredibly loud and obnoxious before the game and during the first half. At the end it was almost a unanimous look of shock on their faces, I don't think any of them expected to lose that game. I saw about 4 different 16-0 signs that had to be folded up.
