Does anyone think VT has a chance to jump into the top 2 spots? THey still have to play Miami, BC, and probably FSU in the ACC championship. With Texas playing no more ranked teams, and USC with 2 more ranked teams, I could see Texas falling back down very soon. If USC, VT, and TExas win out, I believe it should be VT and Texas in the BCS championship. HOwever if Georgia or Bama win out things will be very confusing. Is that possible for them both to win out, or do they play each other? I know the SEC gets pretty brutal for all ranked teams.

That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't it be ironic if USC got bounced out by the BCS? That would be 2 out of 3 years.

Also, what if UCLA wins out? I really wish they had a 4 team playoff this year if 4 are undefeated but if only 3 were we would have the same problem we have now.

DJAXX and dave, where are you? The evil genius is back and your team is in trouble. Word on the street is that they aren't too happy with Phat Phil and his inability to win with a pretty sweet stable of talent. I guess they don't think a preseason top 5 team should be 3-3.

I am looking forward to this one big time. You guys are favored by 14. What are your thoughts.

Go [expletive]. Darth Visor is back in Knoxville!

How's it looking in SCville? Is the recruiting going well for you guys now that Spurrier is there?

We went from dead in the water with our class under Holtz (at least how it was shaping up) to having a top 20 class. Spurrier is getting us in living rooms to which we would not have previously had access. Last season he recruited skill, this year we are focusing on the big uglies on both sides of the ball. We just got a commitment from two FL lineman, one of who picked us over LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State (you get the idea). Its going to take another couple of years. I am not predicting national championships, but I think before his contract is out we will have a Top 10 season or two.

If UCLA wins out they could have a very legit chance. That would put USC out of it, and leave VT, Texas, UCLA, and possibly a SEC team undefeated. I don't think Texas is deserving of the title game. Hopefully TT and OSU will lose a few more games to help my theory along, but I think either USC/UCLA, VT, or any SEC team that is undefeated will deserve it much more than Texas.

Maybe things will be so messed up again this year that a playoff will become much more appealing to those who don't want it.

I want this game so bad...

6:00 on ESPN, by the way.

I'll be there. Hope it lives up to the last MI - NU game in Evanston.

Northwestern is fun to watch and this certainly is an interesting matchup.

I think Depaul could beat Syracuse in football this year 1908...you guys missed your chance!

I have a really bad feeling about the MI/NU game. I get the feeling Northwestern is going to score about 60 points on Michigan's terrible defense. I know I'm in the minority, but let's hope Hart is back healthy and the Michigan offense plays to it's potential. Otherwise it's going to be a long day for Maize and Blue.

If it does, I'll be dead with approximately 90 seconds to go in the 4th quarter. The 2000 game nearly did the job and I was only watching it on TV.

Oh, that reminds me. I made some video highlights of the 2000 game. It's about 38 mb and I could watch it for hours: http://www.jonmdavis.net/northwestern110400.avi

Should be clear skies and gametime temps somewhere in the mid-50s. I've never been more pumped for a football game than I am this week.

That's fine, they could just say they won the national title again anyways.

VT will jump to number 2 after Mizzou exacts their revenge on Texas in the Big XII Championship game.

On a more serious note, Mizzou travels to kU this weekend. Please don't suck against them, they're bad.

( 8 ) UCLA @ Stanford.

Very nervous, UCLA doesn't do too well in Stanford. And Stanford is coming off a big upset of Arizona State. This isn't the same Stanford team that lost to UC Davis.

Harris teams beat teams they are not suppose to and lose to teams they are suppose to beat. The key to winning this game is to tell Harris that this is a bowl game.

They have an excellent run defense, and their D is very similar to Nebraska's.

That being said, we should win by at least two scores.

I'd also LOVE a KSU upset over Colorado, but regardless we still have to beat Colorado next weekend. BUT, Kansas first.

PSU will obliterate Purdue who has proven to be the biggest disappointment of this season. They were getting top-10 (even championship) buzz before the season but they haven't looked the same since they couldn't finish the job at the Metrodome against the Gophers.

I'm not worried about the Wildcats against Michigan. The Wolverines have needed Lloyd Carr's personal timekeeper and overtime to escape with wins the last couple weeks. NU has shown the ability to step up in a big game by decimating the Spartans last week. Just hope they haven't peaked too early.

UT needs to beat the Gamecocks. Notre Dame's once-intimidating schedule is looking like a joke right now with UM the only opponent the Irish have beaten with a winning record, UT at 3-3 and no one left on the schedule besides the Vols that looks even remotely able to stop the Irish.

This will be a boring weekend for me. I hate when ND doesn't play.

Penn State at home against a bad Purdue team for homecoming. Why am I so worried?

I have no idea.

nor do I. Go drink beer and enjoy this one.

I keep myself busy by figuring out which scenerios help ND and then rooting for those teams. Go VT and Cal! I bit dorkish, but it makes the bye weeks go by a lot better. If ND wins out they should definately be in a BCS game. With the teams ahead of them having the schedules they do, I think it is impossible for ND to not make it...as long as they don't lose. Perhaps this should be moved to the ND thread. Sorry I can't help myself sometimes.

And I for one am glad to see him back!!!! Welcome back Steve. It looks like it's gonna be a battle for sure. We can't even score 14 points so I'd take that spread every day of the week. I think it's gonna be too close to call. A lot of Vol fans hate The Ole Ball Coach, but I love him. Darth Visor is a heck of a nickname for him. Best of luck SCCubsfan!!!
