  1. Wish the circumstances were different, but let's do this.
  2. Thank you, fellas. TA, Coach Cal!
  3. Hello sirs, I've been offered SS Stephen Drew and SP Roy Oswalt for SP Roy Halladay. My SS is Peralta. Would you?
  4. Does this league have like 6 players or does everyone else suck at drafting? 10 players, $1K first place prize. Ironically enough, many of them are in Naperville. Did the draft at Nevin's.
  5. We drafted this afternoon, here is the roster for my Habitual Linesteppers (keeper league): C: Matt Wieters/Mike Napoli 1B: Lance Berkman 2B: Ian Kinsler 3B: David Wright SS: Jhonny Peralta OF:Grady Sizemore OF:BJ Upton OF:Carlos Lee U: Pat Burrell Reserves: Jayson Werth SP: Roy Halladay SP: Felix Hernandez SP: Matt Garza SP: Chien-Ming Wang SP: David Price RP:Jonathan Papelbon RP:Brad Lidge Reserves: Max Scherzer, Fausto Carmona, Erik Bedard
  6. Thank you! Ultlimately, I selected Berkman, Kinsler, Wright and Sizemore. I have the 9th and 12th picks. so perhaps Peavy and Bay come back :-) Good luck to each of you this year, look forward to lurking over the trash-talking, complaining and fleecing! Best, V TA, That other forum is wildly amusing. Ban Robbie permanently for the spitting incident? C'mon, now... p.s. Bill Snyder back in the l'il apple, Don? Yikes!
  7. Word. Thanks, homie.
  8. Hello lads, I've joined my first league since Roadkill and needed your collective assistance. I must choose four players from the following roster left by the former owner: Trends Batting Player % Started H/AB HR RBI SB TB AVG Jason Bay (Bos - OF) 84% 165/577 31 101 10 301 .286 Lance Berkman (Hou - 1B,OF) 92% 173/554 29 106 18 314 .312 Jay Bruce (Cin - OF) 27% 105/413 21 52 4 187 .254 Jacoby Ellsbury (Bos - OF) 68% 155/554 9 47 50 218 .280 Corey Hart (Mil - OF) 66% 164/612 20 91 23 281 .268 Akinori Iwamura (TB - 2B,3B) 23% 172/627 6 48 8 238 .274 Ian Kinsler (Tex - 2B) 30% 165/518 18 71 26 268 .319 Russell Martin (LAD - C,3B) 91% 155/553 13 69 18 219 .280 Grady Sizemore (Cle - OF) 92% 170/634 33 90 38 318 .268 Miguel Tejada (Hou - SS) 79% 179/632 13 66 7 262 .283 David Wright (NYM - 3B) 96% 189/626 33 124 15 334 .302 Kevin Youkilis (Bos - 1B,3B) 83% 168/538 29 115 3 306 .312 Trends Pitching Player % Started IP W SV K ERA WHIP Scott Baker (Min - SP) 44% 172.1 11 0 141 3.45 1.18 Matt Capps (Pit - RP) 56% 53.2 2 21 39 3.02 0.97 Aaron Cook (Col - SP) 36% 211.1 16 0 96 3.96 1.34 Gavin Floyd (CWS - SP,RP) 44% 206.1 17 0 145 3.84 1.26 Jair Jurrjens (Atl - SP) 38% 188.1 13 0 139 3.68 1.37 Cliff Lee (Cle - SP) 69% 223.1 22 0 170 2.54 1.11 Brad Lidge (Phi - RP) 88% 69.1 2 41 92 1.95 1.23 Francisco Liriano (Min - SP) 42% 76.0 6 0 67 3.91 1.39 Brett Myers (Phi - SP,RP) 50% 190.0 10 0 163 4.55 1.38 Jake Peavy (SD - SP) 66% 173.2 10 0 166 2.85 1.18 Fernando Rodney (Det - RP) 29% 40.1 0 13 49 4.91 1.59 Huston Street (Col - RP) 65% 70.0 7 18 69 3.73 1.21 I figured Wright, Berkman, Kinsler, and Sizemore. It's your typical CBS scoring league. Graziamente, V
  9. Higher standards for the draft than most people? This is priceless. Carry on!
  10. So dumping a truckload of money on the riskiest of commodities is the way to go?
  11. Shortstops are typically the best athletes on the team. Each of these '6' picks projects somewhere else.
  12. What do you like about it? I don't hate the move as the Cubs have had some success drafting live arms, but I find it hard to get too excited about him as a first round selection. I'm smitten with his delivery: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/events/draft_report/y2008/index.jsp?mc=cashner Just clean, easy heat and a hammer breaking ball. And he should move very quickly once he is signed. I'd take a gamble at 41 now, if Gillaspie isn't around. IMO, he was the BPA. Law had him #20 overall, BA in the top 25.
  13. K-Rod during the angels world series run. Positively nukular.
  14. Homecoming...Oregon at Cal at Memorial Stadium. East Bay here I come!
  15. Can you imagine Bonds hit .362/.609/.812 in '04? F'in hell.
  16. Hairston can play, 2b should be a real plus provided Walker isn't dealt for some toolsy also-ran
  17. When the hell did Ryan Dempster develop a change-up? Nice!
  18. Good point. Bri's doing well, his Steelers just won the title! I'm actually planning on enrolling at UIC's MBA program hoping to gain admission into their joint MBA-M.D. degree program. In the meantime, I'm busy managing bars and medical offices, heh. http://www.uic.edu/cba/mba/joint_degree_programs.html#DOM
  19. Hi DJ. Yeah, I'm back...finally. Rooming with a horde of IU grads, too. They hate Mike Davis, heh.
  20. Honeymoon was months ago. I'm skiing next week. I'm not that excited about baseball, but still desperate for it to begin. Stop it, I'm trying to get into character for next week's big test. Oh right. Are you staying in Colorado or elsewhere? Safe journey.
  21. someone else was saying its good. hard to trust the opinions of college kids sometimes so its good to hear it from you. Has to wait for PPV though! I'd give it a B/B+, so maybe 'quite good' was too strong. In fact, renting or PPV'ing would be just fine. Happy belated B-day to Halla, thanks for the pictures. She's adorable. She looks to be in training for something (wrestlin' the cat, pushing the stroller, using the car seat as a sprinter's gate...) :) Yes, she is also in sleep deprivation training - only she is training me. That may be useful in 14 years or so. You would think she would stop moving while she was sleeping but not really. How's life back in Illinois? You adjusted to cold yet? That's the stage 4 REM kicking in, literally. It's okay I suppose, I definitely miss being out west. I miss the hour flights to Vegas, the weather, the golf, and especially the manner in which the people drive their vehicles. Other things I don't miss at all, but that's for another time.

  23. I'm bored, in love with Scarlett, desperate for opening day, ready to go on vacation tomorrow. How about you. I'm doing well, and keeping busy being somewhat productive. Where are you headed? Honeymoon, right? Or perhaps I'm confused, I only glanced at that thread in the insiders forum. Also in love with Scarlett, but not as excited about baseball this year.
