  1. The sig doesn't do it justice, this site has it (just drop down and click on Bergkamp v. Newcastle for the slow mo and angles). It's just brilliant. But I agree with you, the WC goal versus Argentina is the best when you consider the circumstances (WC quarters versus the powerhouse, 1-1 tie in the dying moments, and the fact that he skinned one of the best fullbacks in history, Roberto Ayala). http://www.soccerclips.net/otheruploadhttp.php
  2. Greatest goal I've ever seen in the EPL. And top 5, for sure.
  3. *dons NYY chapeau* I heart Jeter!
  4. Ryan seems to measure up pretty darn well: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=52

  6. Of all the things to wish for...Brewers fan? What in the world is stopping you?
  7. I don't think most GM's are looking at OBP when evaluating a backup infielder, though. I'd be pretty shocked if Hendry went Cedeno/Neifi at SS, my guess is Walker is gone, Cedeno at 2B, and either Nomar or Furcal at SS with Neifi as a backup IF (which I'm perfectly fine with, the guy is NOT a bad player, it's not Neifi's fault that Nomar's gimpy and Baker mis-uses him). Lugo comparison...that's interesting. Lugo's IsoD has been over .60 for nearly every season in his pro career (minors & majors), Cedeno's is .50 (even this year, .355/.405 at Iowa). So I imagine if he hits .255, OBP will be around .305 or so, and IsoP has been .106 coming into this year, and was .148 at Iowa. Lugo's IsoP has been remarkably consistent, .130 in minors and majors. So far Cedeno is at .296/.351/.380 in the NL. I expect he'd hit .270/.320/.390 as a full-time player...maybe.
  8. I still find it hilarious that our backup utility guy with the sixth highest OPS among NL shortstops is a major scapegoat for the '05 Cubs. I'd start with Wood, Nomar, Patterson, LF, ineffective 5th starter, and a shaky bullpen. But I guess tying in any of those with Baker in a compromising sig pic is too difficult??? It's too bad we don't have a STUD backup SS like Marco Scutaro. We mighta been a contender. edit: Not that this has anything to do with DJ's post. I just didn't want to start another thread. BTW, what does everyone project from Cedeno as a starting SS in the majors?
  9. I agree. Perez is not this team's problem. He's one of the pluses. Is he awesome? Heck no, but he's done his job. The problem with Neifi has been Baker. Neifi is an 8 hole hitter. Not a lead off guy. Not a 2 hitter. 8.8.8.8.8. Baker refused to see it. Neifi has a solid glove and puts the ball in play. He's pretty much done for the Cubs what he's done his entire career. .278 / 9 / 47 is way more than any of us would have expected when Nomar went down. What Neifi wasn't signed to do was start. While he has done admirably compared to his career numbers, he definitely wasn't supposed to have the 3rd highest # of games played (behind only Lee and Burnitz, one ahead of Ramirez). Yes, Nomar went down, but since his return, Dusty has still managed to get him into 5-6 games a week, usually at Todd Walker's expense (Walker has appeared in 86 games compared to Neifi's 124). Wasn't Walker disabled for 5-6 weeks?
  10. His source is never wrong, that's why it is well-placed. And Gerut's a much, much better OF than Dubois will ever be.
  11. Dwayne Wade makes Arenas look like John Crotty. He is the consummate player. Let's get past the Wiz first; I'm just about sick of seeing Larry Hughes sinking 20-foot double-clutch jumpshots.
  12. Minimum 8-pete Bullse!
  13. Thanks for the link
  14. I'm hoping Patrick Ewing Jr. will ride with us to the Gold Club in Atlanta during our Fall trip to see Auburn-Alabama football.
  15. BTW, is Gabe Sollecito our closer yet??? !
  16. I, uh, I went by Rumeal_Robinson (the real deal from Mandeville) over at ESPN back in the day, until it was overrun by Johnnie LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Boiler and Dom "Secret Internet Ninja" Mansone. The board was never the same when Jon Koncack, Keith Smart, and Sam Bowie left.
  17. [expletive]. Well, Mike is out, he's the first to go after reaching the final table. He played like a champ and will leave with $470,000! But another bad beat. Mike pushed in $150 K after getting pocket Aces. Raymer, the chip leader raised to $500 K on the button. Mike went all-in and was the astounding pre-flop favorite after Raymer flipped over his pocket 10's. But the damn flop came 7c 10d Jd, and Raymer had his trio.
  18. A friend of mine living near Henderson said he went on Thursday to Binions. Bring a washcloth :)
  19. Finally, we're set. Marcel Luske of Holland is the 10th place finisher, and the final table is set for tomorrow. Congrats to Mike for making it this far. Seat First Name Last Name Chip Count 4 GREG RAYMER $8,215,000 5 MATT DEAN $4,920,000 2 JOSH ARIEH $3,205,000 7 GLENN HUGHES $2,275,000 6 DAN HARRINGTON $2,245,000 8 DAVID WILLIAMS $1,575,000 3 AL KRUX $1,305,000 9 MICHAEL MCCLAIN $885,000 1 MATTIAS ANDERSSON $740,000
  20. Yeah, one more to go.
  21. Damn Canadians. heh, I wonder how many votes he received for introducing us to Evelyn Ng at the WPT ladies night event: http://www.poker-babes.com/images/Evelyn.jpg
