Wow Jimmy Eat Edmonds has been pretty ordinary stats-wise so far. Burnitz-like.

He's fourth in the majors in OF win shares, and 17th in baseball in rc/g.

OK - I was wrong (see JC's thread in Rants)

Can't believe that Wiliamson is this bad.

Most pitchers aren't great in their first month back from TJS.

Except the immortal Chris Carpenter...

Exactly my point.

Wow, I didn't realize Carpenter just came back from TJS in July.

Did you just skip over the "first month back" part?

Carpenter was great from the moment he came back from TJS. Didn't take him two years.

That's the 2nd time this game a poor Ramirez throw cost a run.

Frostwyrm, what the heck is that in your sig? I take it's a horror movie of some kind. Scared the crap out of me last night when I was scanning the boards last night.

Thanks for editing what you originally said.

Answer me this, did Carpenter return to pitching (and pitching effectively) 10 months after TJS?

From the time he finished rehabbing, he joined the Cards. Immediately the guy was pitching with lights out stuff. NOT ONLY THAT---he never did that ever before in his entire career, even when he was healthy.

Is your argument that pitchers should be able to return from TJS and go from being .500 to CY Young candidates? Because if it is, then where do I sign up?

No, I'm saying it's not surprising that Williamson is struggling considering the fact that he's only 10 months from Tommy John.

He and Carpenter's situations are totally different.

We get to carpenter here in the 8th, with CPunk eventually putting us ahead against the pen.

Or not :x \

Lee getting ahead 3-0 only to fly out hurt.

Wow.

And because it's the Cubs, heads will not roll.

Ever get the feeling you were being slowly suffocated and nobody gave a damn? That's how this Cub team makes me feel.

I'm not sure if it was technically Large Marge, since it was her ghost. That's a bit of a metaphysical question.

Positives - Burny was 3-4, Williams pitched 6IP/3ER which is great for a 5th starter, Aram hit a bomb, Koronka was able to come in and get an out.

I only saw from the 6th -> end, but still not a total loss of a day. and you can't get TOO upset losing to a Cy Young Candidate.

also, I think it's kind of good that Williamson is struggling now, so it gives dusty less of a chance to overuse him.

I want to know what drugs Carpenter took to come back from a 2-year catastrophic arm blowout to suddenly become a Cy Young candidate.

I don't buy that he did it naturally. Not for one second.

give me a break. :P
