I have to go in 15 minutes, is it possible the cubs get out on the 6th and tie it in the 6th in that time??

possible....but unlikely.

But feel free to make your disingenuous Lee for MVP arguments while out of the other side of your mouth talking down on Cards fans who support their guy for an award.

disingenuous?

hahahahaha, yeah, okay.

pujols trails in just about every offensive category to lee, yet he deserves the MVP?

this isn't really the place for this, but i really think you can find a better argument against vance than this. it's really pathetic.

He trails him in average and HR by a small amount, leads OBP by a small amount, trails in SLG by about 30 points, and other than that it's about even. The difference between the two is that Lee has been hitting .270 in the second half (while the Cubs fell apart), while Pujols has been hitting over .360 since the All-Star break, as the Cards put away the division. Who do you think will end up with the better stats? ;)

wow, could these guys get on the cardinals' jocks any more?

grudzielanek has a SHORTSTOP'S arm?

you've got to be kidding me.

Well, he has played shortstop for Expos and Dodgers.

And who is his agent? Is there a site that lists which players have which agents?

corey is a boras boy

I've tried searching for the same kind of website.. no luck.

If anyone knows of any, please share.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Boras

As you can tell, the reaso why Boras and the Cubs seem to do very well is because Boras did "play for the Cubs" in his brief career. Not saying that plays any part (Maddux leaving in 02, for example), but the fact he does have a history with the Cubs, helps/hurts the Cubs. You can see several current Cubs prospects/players on that list. It is an imcomplete list, but you get the idea.

yes, but wasn't he moved to 2nd because he no longer had the arm for it?

iirc, the "official" reason given for why grudz was never tried at ss last year was that he didn't have the arm for it.

I always thought the reason Grudz was moved to second was that the Dodgers had a hole there when he left Montreal and signed with them.

unnecessary trolling.

unnecessary trolling? It's a very relevant stat that Pujols has stepped it up as the Cardinals locked up the division, while Lee went 0-for-forever during that 8 game losing streak that crippled you guys.

Look at the team pages, if the information is available, it'll be last in the player's info.

Comments like these from Card fans make me hope the Cardinals really stink it up in the postseason. There is a good argument for both sides, but it's IMO bad form to provoke an argument (or ongoing heated discussion) on a rivals' board. Thankfully, we have just the thing to remedy that:

Get it to Rivalries and watch the flipping game, please.

if you'll trace all this back to the source, it was not me who started the MVP/Cy Young talk in this thread.

the cardinals have had the division locked up for months. don't act like they haven't.

lee had a slump - okay, big deal. pujols, too, has slumped. it doesn't take away from the fact that lee has been an overall better player all season - note that i said ALL SEASON, which is what MVP voting is based on, not an 8-game stretch in august.

We've discussed this ad nauseum in another thread. Let's keep it there.

And as I said there, if Pujols finishes with the better numbers, then he should be the MVP. On the other hand, if Lee still leads in avg, HRs, OBP, and SLG as he was at the time I made my case for his being the MVP, then he should be there.

All season? Have we played the whole season yet? I was under the impression we had a month and a half left. Seems to me that Lee had a good half and has been average or slightly better in the second half. The real difference between the two is that Lee's slump isn't quite through yet. When it is, Pujols will have the better numbers.
