"Heres Rich Hills stats for the year... *He started in Triple-A and is now in Class A*

Triple-A 3.28 ERA, 57.2 Innings, 42 Hits, 21 Earned Runs, 9 Homeruns, 21 Walks, 90 Strike outs.

Double-A 4.53 ERA, 43.2 Innings, 35 Hits, 22 Earned Runs, 11 Homeruns, 11 Walks, 62 Strike outs

Major Leagues - Cubs 4.76 ERA, 5.2 Innings, 3 Hits, 3 Earned Runs, 3 Walks, 3 Strike outs.

Class A 1.13 ERA, 8 Innings, 5 Hits, 1 Earned Run, 12 Strike outs

The thing I dont get is how do you start out in Triple-A then go to Double-A then to the Cubs then get sent down to Class A ball?

Also hes given up 20 homeruns in a little over 100 innings in the minors."

It's amazing how they get the facts screwed up over there.....

and another interesting viewpoint...

"Rich Hill is not that good, he's NOT. Please, when will people get this. If Hal thinks he is the best prospect in baseball, you have to ask yourself, what the heck does Hal know about prospects?"

For what it's worth, Jerry Crasnick doesn't see Dunn or Kearns coming our way.

From his ESPN.com chat:

Victor (Chicago ): Jerry, are the Cubs going to make any trades before the deadline?

SportsNation Jerry Crasnick: (12:24 PM ET ) Victor,

Jim Hendry is trying, but he's like a lot of GMs who don't want to trade prospects for temporary solutions. I hate to say that Jody Gerut-for-Jason Dubois is his big deal, but let's put it this way: I doubt they're getting Adam Dunn or Austin Kearans.

Maybe we've lost out on Austin Kearans, but hopefully we're still in the running for Austin Kearns.

simply wonderful!

reading more on the ESPN board, the guy that started the thread about kearns said he did it to get under some guys skin over there and there was no truth to it, so it was BS as everyone thought.

Hill made one start in Peoria because Iowa was supposed to play in New Orleans (I think that's where it was), and that game was cancelled because of hurricane Dennis. He then pitched for the Chiefs so he wouldn't have to miss a start.

You have to wonder when you read that stuff...are Cinci fans so much more intelligent than the Reds' management? Apparently not.

Dunn is a great bat - and I'd absolutely love to have him in the lineup. But he is way overpriced - I'm not too sure what would be a reasonable return for him.

I'd much rather take my chances on Kearns and give up alot less.....they're looking to sell.....so its not like they can neccessarily afford to keep all these guys. Their team isnt that great, definitely isnt contending for anything this year....and the pitching stinks.

I could probably pick out a post here and there and show it to other team's fans, giving them a less-than-favorable outlook on the intelligence of Cubs fans.

I wonder what they'd think of some of the opinions on Dunn around here.

It is such a diverse opinion about him, depends on which day and which poster they're reading.

Why? The mistake in regards to the order of what levels he was at in the minors is because the listing of stats came in the AAA-AA-A order, not chronological order. And Rich has given up 20 HRs in 100+ IP.

Rich Hill is definitely not the best prospect in baseball. Heck, I'd say he's not even the best pitching prospect on the Cubs.

I agree which makes me wonder why the Cubs wouldn't part with him in the right deal.

Exactly, like Rocket said, one post isn't anything close to an indication of the board. RedsZone has a lot of good info and quality posters.

Because they don't view Adam Dunn as the right player and they probably think more highly of Hill than I do.

I think the bottom line is that either

1. Hendry doesnt want to run the risk of another "dontrelle" type deal - thus he's gonna be overly-cautious

2. He's attempting to increase the value of Hill

3. Dunn's BA, K's, and shawdy defense dont interest him

It's obvious Dunn isn't on the Cubs radar at all. And although Kearns may be, I'll bet we refuse to give up what they'd want in return.

Anyone else have the feeling we are going to end up with Willy Mo? And can someone please tell me what does IIRC mean?

If I Remember Correctly

many thanks!

was Kearns called up to be traded????

Article

Ken Griffey Jr. was kidding Adam Dunn about tossing a baseball to a Cubs fan and Dunn said, "I only had about a one in 10 chance of hitting a Reds fan. It was all blue out there. They put all those Cubs fan in left field and, man, they were worse than the fans in Wrigley Field. They were all over me.

That's great.

I already posted that in this thread and no one said it was great then. :(

Please no Willy Mo - that would be a major downgrade
