Their power ranking also had the Bears at #7 last week and the Broncos at #8. Following a Bears win at Seattle and a Broncos win at home against KC, the Broncos leapfrogged the Bears and are #4, with the Bears at #5. They also had Buffalo #1, SF #2 and the Jaguars #3.

I don't believe their analysis is objective, ESPN just doesn't "like" Caleb and it's a factor in the results.  They "like" Bo Nix who, objectively, sucks, and it shows.

As always though, I love any disrespect we can get.

Van Pelt could barely contain himself with praise last night. Obviously he's not all of ESPN though.

I'm just not comfortable with the love-fest. Too many soul-crushing years to feel good about that. I'd rather be the "yeah, but" team and then win a game like last night.

it does feel like the rare times when the Bears get national recognition they immediately eat horsefeathers. However, I've felt a strange sense of serenity ever since they beat the Packers last year. I'm not too anxious that they have to win right now or we'll miss our shot forever. Ben Johnson and Caleb are gonna be here a long time and I think we'll be football relevant for a long time.

Now that being said, they now have a specific window this year where we are in a sense "Super Bowl or Bust" but I wont be crushed if we don't get it this year because I do feel confident we'll be in the mix for a while.

Yeah, having a real QB and an offensive genius as the head coach certainly allay a lot of those fears of now or never and that's not something they've ever had, at least not in my lifetime.

I'm with you.  As we know there's always a plethora of overreactions good or bad, have to find a balance.  Think watching some of film reviews may provide the balance.  You can put the effusive praise aside and see Ben and Caleb know what their doing, such a complete 180 from the days of Eberflus and Fields, it's awesome.

Pretty much everyone has been glazing the Bears today, but my favorite bit was the Athletic show postgame with Robert Mays (who as I've said in the past is an unabashed Bears fan) trying super hard not to be the smug horsefeathers fan for most of the night because he wants to be as impartial as possible in analysis, but definitely let it slip out at the end of the video.

There's also Mina Kimes and Ben Solak who did a nice video on the Bears today.

Another thing to credit the Bears defense: JSN caught that wide open TD pass at the end of the first half (damn it Tyrique, stop biting on the double move, this happens way too much), he didn't catch another pass until the game was 34-17 and basically over.

Were they just running routes that weren't given time to develop because of our pressure or did we bracket him?

Bit of both. He was bracketed most of the 2nd half, but the Bears D generated pressures on 36% of snaps with almost no blitzing, which is huge for this team's secondary coverage.

Several times a game Caleb does something absurd like shrug a defender off him and hit a 22 yard pass, and we've just come to expect it now.

It feels strange but it also feels nice.

I was struck by how big he is without pads on in the postgame interview with SVP.  He just doesn't look that big on the field with all the other monsters out there but the guy is an absolute tank.

Broncos may have a good defense but boy howdy does Bo Nix suck

If you don't pay attention to the AFC you may miss how good the Jags have been. They've been very good since the mid-point of last season.

The cream of the NFL right now is: Chicago, San Fran, Jacksonville, Buffalo and whatever collection of other NFC North teams you want to back

I agree the Jags are good. I just think the Bears would have better than a 49 chance to beat them in Chicago. The only reason the Bears point differential isn’t right up there with the Jags is the embarrassment in GB. And Caleb didn’t play that game. I’m not saying the Bears beat them. But I would put the chances closer to 55-60%.

So CJ Gardener-Johnson just got released following a one game suspension for spitting. Is he worth brining on board, at least until Bryant is back?

That was a lot of fun to watch. He rarely got his feet set.
