I assumed yesterday's game was well in hand, and then, you know, the Cubs happened.

Time to punish Cease for not signing here

He's so damn good, imagine having that guy for a game 1 in the playoffs.  And he's durable which is something this team doesn't have in the rotation.

I don't think one move fixes this rotation - but this team has definitely had its opportunities.  Fried would have been an awesome get.  Cease would have been even better.

Why didn’t they plan for this? We all knew it was going to happen before yesterday.

Aside from hurricane warnings on the east coast I don’t remember when a game would be called and played a day before it was supposed to be played. Maybe it has been done some, but pretty rare. Besides that, they would have had to make Saturday a day night doubleheader. I think Wrigley still has some restrictions on the amount of night games they could have. They might be at that limit.

Logistically getting people out after one game and in for the night game would be tough. And notifying people who have tickets for today’s game wouldn’t be easy either. Not to mention people who were going to Sunday’s game now needing to go Saturday night. I think they did have a good idea this game wouldn’t be played and are satisfied with making it up 8/6.

BK asked why they didn’t plan for this. I think they did. The plan was if the rain cancels the game they get a day to rest and make it up at the end of a homestand. Make Toronto inconvenienced.

Good.  Father’s Day without stupid sports stress.  I’m hanging out with my dog. Life is good.
