Remember those goofy Joe Maddon stuff he would do to keep the team loose? One of those was “Embrace the suck.” during a way too long slump.

I don’t know why I said any of that. But there is a connection.

Of all the stupid takes you choose his pointing out the A’s aren’t terrible as a stupid take? I can find numerous comments far more ridiculous than that. And I don’t even need to look far.

My take was stupid, not his. Sorry about the confusion.

Of course Happ homers now. It isn’t high leverage so of course he gets a hit. Right?

It got them from "definitely going to lose" to "maybe there's a chance?" So...clutch, I guess?

For the record, he's the guy I most want the Cubs to re-sign in the offseason.

Oh, I see. My point still stands. I can find way more ridiculous hot takes than what you said. I didn’t find your that bad. Frustrated, sure. But I have seen way worse.

This team is unreal.I know we had Horton go down and Steele hasn’t been back but why is it most knew that signing Bergman was a bad idea.I’ve said this for years that why are most GMs dumb as rocks. Who does not know that pitching wins games not hitters. Great pitchers will be great hitters all the time. Why do GMs insist on spending big bucks on hitters and are content to try and have 1 top pitcher only. I would spend most money or trade for 4 top flight guys carrying below 3 era along with good bullpen and top closer.then you add a young 5th starter from your system to groom. Spend your money then on guys that are good vets that manufacture runs. You don’t need big sticks like judge .you need guys that don’t strike out constantly cause if you have top pitchers good vets not making a fortune can manufacture 3 or 4 runs a game . Shaw would have put up better numbers then Bergman and now you have him for 5 years, what a waste. Let’s face it,Swanson ,happ, susuki, should be gone after this year along with tallion,Boyd,Igma, and a boat load more. Stop ,stop ,stop running out pitchers that are inning eaters with era over 4s trying to get lucky for a win. Pitching win games not guys like tallion.

Also, those of you hitting the bottle a bit too hard tonight should put down your phones, have a drink of water, and grab something greasy so you don't wake up too hung over.

I like Happ. He is unfairly bashed here daily. But my statement was directed towards the post earlier that pointed out Happ get way more hits in low leverage situations. It was clearly done to cut him down leaving out the obvious. He has way more AB in low leverage situations. In fact his numbers in high leverage are actually better than they are in other situations.  I doubt the resign him, but would be happy if they did for maybe 3 more years.

I envy everyone that's been able to drink through this

Also that game against the Pirates where he hit 2 critical home runs in a rare win doesn't count because the Cubs were in the middle of a 5-19 stretch thus a low leverage situation.

For some posters anything Happ does well doesn’t count. Only comment when he makes an out or is slumping. Very under appreciated.

Hit a Grand Slam, and … absolutely nothing will be forgiven over the last few weeks.

Never mind, I looked up and thought I saw bases loaded. Anyway…

Another fake rally

This time around it would be an impressive fake rally lol. More hits during this fake rally than probably in 75% of games over the last month.

All up tooooooooo

Swanson lol

And he has to bat. No infielders left if they tie it. I guess Kelly could play 1st and Busch second.
