Great job by Rea tonight,  hopefully this team is ready to get going now with pitching and hitting

They were talking on 104.3 today about how the Cubs would much rather have Rea be a long reliever and I guess I get that but his numbers have been better as a starter for the Cubs. He has been an invaluable player for us with all these pitching injuries.

it's bizarre how he's had to replace arguably our best pitcher at the start of the year for 2 years in a row

I guess in a way it makes sense because if Rea is in long relief it means all our better options are healthy.

100% agreed for both this year and the last.

At this stage of his career, I do think yes he better serves the team as a long arm and spot starter over an every 5th day guy, limiting his pitches should benefit him all season.

With these early injuries,  im really glad they held onto him, Assad, and even Taillon now over trading them.

Feel like that should have been an error on Comforto and an unearned run.

The last two days had a bit of everything.

Good Cubs pitching, fantastic Cubs defense, lots of Cubs hits, lots of Cubs runs and arse.

Nice to win the series.

Brewers, Reds and Pirates all lost. Cubs 2 games out of 1st and entire division is .500 or better.

Weren't people talking about how doomed we were this series after losing the first game and having Assad and Rea going the next 2 nights?

I wasn't doomed.  I was hoping Assad and Rea would pitch well, and TBH, they did better than I hoped.  Plus, much better offense, which I didn't expect.

Conforto destroyed that ball, just to the deepest part

Balls really die in those alleys in that stadium

The Rays really suck

Especially, their defense.

We’d all rather see Rea in a long relief role. That would entail having a fully healthy rotation. It’s not a knock on him.

Not doomed anymore than Steele’s season ending injury after 4 starts doomed them last season. Especially against a bad Rays team. Losing Horton for the year and Boyd for a month is a setback though.
