Terrible news about Horton, but if Assad can keep doing Assad things and defying the peripherals, that'll work.

Get the series win. Not to look ahead to the Pirates series but it looks like they should miss Skenes

The hell you say, since he came up, I don't think there's been many or, if any, series in which the Cubs missed Skenes.

They have an off day, so if they don’t skip anyone he won’t start in Chicago.Β

should be mlodzinski, ashcraft, and chandler

They have a great staff, so anyone is a tough assignment.

Yea this isn't going to be an easy series,Β  especially if the bats go back to sleep.

Hopefully Imanaga Cabrera and Taillon all have good starts againΒ

Happ still not playing. they gonna tell us what's going on or nah?

Theyre saying a bruised heel, but he needed a couple days off to figure things out with the bat, 18 Ks in 40 AB is brutal.

Have we ever missed Skenes in a series with the Pirates? I feel like he’s been lined up to face us in every single series since he debutedΒ

Typical Happ hate. Nevermind OPS+ of 144, slugging at .550 and OPS at 839. 4 homers. Let’s just talk about him striking out.Β

Well I mean the OPS and Slugging are high because 4 of his 8 hits are homers, you dont find it a bit concerning that he has struck out almost half his AB.

Yea, it ST but he struggled there too with just 7 hits and 8 Ks in 36 AB

The 4 bombs are cool but the dude off to a pretty rough start, theres no hate in saying a guy could use a couple days off to figure it out.

Why do 2nd basemen so often drag their hand along the ground on tags? Swanson had the runner out by a mile, but yet, didn’t manage to tag him out.Β

Think about the motion you're making on that play, you're concentrating on catching the ball first and foremost. Β That throw, unlike say, the return bounce when you're dribbling a basketball, can get to you in a wide variety of locations and the runner could be sliding multiple ways which changes your tag target. That means there isn't a muscle memory that when you catch the ball you make this specific movement and that's a clean tag every time.

You're taught(at least I was) to bring the ball to the base, the runner has to get there. Β At the MLB level it's not exactly that simple, but that's the general mechanic. Β You can see Swanson doing a version of this, but he came in a little low and the ground slowed the sweeping motion just enough for the runner to be safe. Β The other end of the spectrum is if you come in too high, a hand can sneak in under you.
