The NFL clearly wants the Bears in Illinois and the McCaskeys look to be finally ridding themselves of Kevin Warren in these negotiations

If Kevin Warren has been removed from the stadium discussions, what exactly would you say he does with the Bears at this point?  It was heavily stated this was the reason he was hired in the first place.

Hopefully it means he's filing for unemployment soon.

Maybe they would let him go once the stadium deal in Arlington Heights has been finalized by Pat Ryan and company. Letting him go now weakens the Bears’ position.

“The new law would allow any municipality (including Chicago) to form an authority that would own and operate the stadium, with no property taxes being paid. Taxpayers would be responsible only for new roads and other infrastructure.”

Wait, I thought Bears wanted lower and secure property taxes and for the infrastructure to be paid for by the taxpayers? Now they pay no property taxes and the taxpayers still to pay for infrastructure improvements near the stadium? I don’t have access to Crain’s, but there must be something in there that the state can make a lot money by owning the stadium or this new proposal isn’t going anywhere.

But they also don’t OWN the stadium. I thought that was what they wanted. Not going to pay property taxes on a property they don’t own.

He does absolutely nothing but stand behind Johnson in the locker room so people can see him clap 🙄🙄

Media gives this guy credit for Ben Johnson coming,  so they dont get on him about the Stadium issues

I don't give him credit for Ben Johnson, Ben was Poles' choice and doing from get go.  I do him give credit for, with Poles, double teaming McCaskey to give Eberflus the boot.

Taxes not being part of the equation at all likely lightens the load for them, own or lease.

Ownership as a concept is really about control. A government "owned" facility that you control equals massive financial gains.

Whether it's Chicago or Arlington Heights at the other end of the negotiationing table, "lease payments" are then effectively 'payment in leiue of taxes' (and maybe a sprinkle of ancillary tax revenue)
