Sounds ironic from me, but I hat when this on-topic discussion becomes a conversations bout horsefeathers me and my motives, it's so annoying, I'm sick of it, and it makes me verymad when people say they hate me after I try to make this as horsefeathers respectful as possible. 

I'm going to leave this thread soon, and I'm going to make a pact with myself so that people like me and might let me go onto the politics part soon, because I'm thoughtful, I guarantee you. I'll make  max of one post a day until my first chapter thread, and I'll still make one post a day until people horsefeathers like me enough to respect me as a human insteadd of saying this site is better than me. TALK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE THAN ME! I get my introduction was bad, but I want this to be less about mea ND more about baseball and the topic.

listen, don't worry about this horsefeathers, just be yourself. you're new and the whole thing is kinda annoying but kinda annoying guys here are a dime a dozen. don't let the a-holes (myself included obviously) affect you, just keep doing your thing and we'll all get used to it.

Honestly, it's where most of the action is at this point.

Most of us have known each other for a decade or two at this point. We've argued most of the baseball stuff to death. Yes, walks are good. Yes, batting Neifi Perez second was stupid. Even the newer stuff like instant replay, the universal DH, and the ghost runner have all been largely brought to a collective opinion (or at least a detente).

So there's a handful of posts on each game as it happens. And various transactions. And as the season unfolds there will be people arguing about whether various breakouts and regressions are real or not. But for the most part, we're talking about maybe 50 - 100 posts per thread.

Meanwhile, horsefeathers like the politics thread has a billion posts.

I was a Cubs fan before the Ricketts. I will be a Cub fan when they are gone.

While they own the team, they get none of my money.

Honestly, whoever owns the team shouldn’t get any of your money if you are going to punish the owners based on their political views. Most owners are republican. I don’t agree either them but I am not going to punish myself and not do things I love doing just to make some sort of point. Honestly, me not going to a game just means someone else will go.

I mean, he's not taking the Addison Russell route to the end of his baseball career, but he's certainly veering off in a similar direction.

Illinois is a blue state for one reason only. CHICAGO! I suppose it's healthy to a kid's future to be all over the team owner's knob for future paychecks, but the fanbase is watching.

In general, the less I know about a baseball player outside of his baseball prowess, the better. I was so excited about Matt Shaw as a young prospect. Now I couldn't care less if they fire him off to the moon. A couple more Matt Shaw's proudly wearing their political affiliations on their sleeve and my Marquee bill will soon become $20 cheaper per month. I can read a book for 2:15 (or however short games will be in 2026) a day instead of tuning into a game. I'm way behind on my reading.

It’s one thing to be republican, it’s another to be very visible in your support for the fascist in chief, including having a member of the ownership group in Trumps administration, funding one of the largest Super PACs in support of Trump and having another owner who was a governor and now US Senator of another state and has widely supported banning abortion and other Trump policies.  They look even worse because initially they were very anti-Trump and backed other republicans in 2016 but when Trump called them out publicly, they quickly bent to his will.

And then there’s all the horsefeathers about the father being outed as a racist POS. I personally still pay for Marquee and go to a couple games a year but I can understand why someone wouldn’t spend any money to support the team.

I honestly did believe Tribune would eventually sell the team. The Ricketts, I don't believe they will sell the team. They will follow in the Wirtz/Reinsdorf and the Halas/McCaskey and keep the franchise in the family.

I rather have an owner who is private with his political thoughts and just spend money to make the team a winner. This is why I hate when politics and sports get intertwine.
