So I watched Shaw's speech at the Turning Point event (Turning Point was created by Charlie Kirk).  He didn't talk about anything political at all, it was about his faith and loving thy neighbour (including the people who now hate him).  Sounds like Erica Kirk invited him to speak on whatever topic he wanted and he thought about it and his faith in Jesus is what he chose.

He'll still be associated with the general views of Kirk and the others that spoke there (and that's on him) but at least his speech wasn't divisive and won't rile up the Cubs fanbase more.

Could you not link turning point videos? This is exactly how we kept getting all those ridiculous Trump coin ads everywhere.

Ads are personalized to a degree, so inserting one video wouldn't cause that. But it could happen if ads are chosen at the site level... not sure. I love the Happy Honda Days ad above me... don't want to see that go. 🙂

It is a wise move to not talk directly about the political issues and talk about a more "centripetal" message. I wonder if there will be any significant repercussions, but the Hoyers and the Ricketts are probably pleased with the message. It's strategically significant to play the message of "I'm going to be a unifier and a Jesus-lover" instead of viciously attacking the other members, which seemed to happen as other people demonstrated friction in the speeches.

In the end, this will be another thing in the books that will be forgotten next year--significant at one time but forgotten as next year's season progresses with tensions about salary caps and the MLBPA. That will be the drama that I hope to post about first.

(I've spent hours reading older threads for some reason to get some more context. It seems you've gotten a lot of trolls who have been talking about politics. I apologize for this thread, as it seemed to get one user... ahem... in trouble and banned after making some useless and aggravating comments. I hope we can all move past this.

@Outshined_One, I think it's time for this thread to be closed.
