I thought a playoff system was going to "take the politics out of the process." It's a complete joke. I realize there is always going to be a team that feels left out, but to have it happen so that three loss Alabama can get in makes the process worthless.

As fun as it is to add another user to my ignore list today, I'm bummed out by opting out. I wanted to watch them play again, stomp BYU and get the revenge tour going right effing now. I wouldn't have made that call. But I'm not stepping on the field to actually do it.

There are going to be like 3 good playoff games. Miami/A&M will probably be entertaining, but the other first-round games are going to suck (Bama/OU because it will be ugly and the other 2 will be blowouts) and I think at least 3 of the quarterfinals are going to be absolute stompings.

Feels like we're reaching an inflection point with the bowl system. Many predicted that the playoff would devalue the other bowl games, and we're now seeing that accelerate (three bowl eligible teams saying "nah" in one day).

Add to that the number of players who opt out of playing to stay healthy for the draft, and it feels like the "40 bowls a year" system will collapse under its own weight.

2 of the last 3 years, Alabama has been the beneficiary of some very shady logic by the selection committee.

The year they didn't, they cried foul and then lost to a terrible Michigan team in a bowl.

2023 Florida State's QB got hurt, then whoever played QB the next two games could barely complete a pass. They subsequently lost 63-3 to a Georgia team that Alabama had beaten in the SEC title game. I know they had a ton of opt outs but still. I disagreed that Florida St got left out but I understand the decision. That same Alabama team then lost in OT against a Michigan team that won the title. Only loss was to a Texas team that made the playoffs.

They beat 6, 11, 13 and 21 in the final rankings (FSU beat 13 and 15). Was it a little weird they jumped FSU? Sure. But they were absolutely deserving of being in the 4 team playoff that year.

Interesting that starting next year, ND is apparently guaranteed to make the playoff if they finish in the top 12 of the rankings.  If that had in been place this year, they would have bumped Miami out.

Your boys beat them by ONE, so maybe simmer down

But we beat them in their house and only lost one game. Still waiting for an answer as to who they beat. I wouldn’t have said horsefeathers if they weren’t crying like a bunch of pussies. Should they be in over JMU and Tulane? Of course, but that’s not how it’s set up this season.

They didn't have a loss as bad as Florida and they didn't need OT to beat a mediocre team

This is just helping to verify what everyone knows....it really doesnt matter, especially to program like ND.

Doesn't a bowl bid afford you more practices? Do not understand why any team would decline a bowl bid.  Unless, teams are allowed more practices regardless.

If that had been in place this year, the committee would've played the head to head card much sooner and probably bumped BYU and Texas ahead of them besides. Ranking thresholds don't mean that much when the committee can do whatever it wants week to week.

Lol, are all Irish fans whiny babies?

You made troll posts directed specifically at my team twice for absolutely no reason at all, my dude. I never said a single word about your stupid team, which will get nuked into the stratosphere by Ohio State if they manage to get by Miami. I don't need to look at that horsefeathers if I don't want to.

The two best wins for the Irish are # 16 USC ( 9-3 ) and Pitt ( 8-4 )

A reasonable argument could be made that BYU had a better resume.

Who let Dave Portnoy register

The worst part of the whole CFP thing is the weekly rankings that dont actually matter because the committee just moves teams around to fit whatever they want in the end anyway. If the first time you saw a ranking was today, how different would it feel? There would be questions about ND being left out and Bama being in just like now, but the committee wouldn't have to answer for how and why they were switched around.
