Maaaaybe, but pitching wasn't really the problem.

We had to start Boyd on short rest in G1 and couldn't trust Shota to pitch at all in Game 5. Starting pitching at the end of the year was definitely a problem. With better starting pitching, maybe we take either G1 or G2 and win the series in 4.

I dont hate the Brewers.  They are like the annoying little brother that grew up to be bigger than the older brother.

More like the younger brother who had a major growth spirt and is now as tall as the older brother.

Dodgers in 5.

and they will follow it up by replacing Kyle Tucker with Connor Joe and seeing what Independent League arms might be worth a flyer

Connor Joe has always hit at Wrigley

Cubs history is full of chokes and failure. Since they’ve been a competent Team over the last decade, most of the winning history in our lifetimes they’ve recorded, Milwaukee has been far and away the Cubs biggest obstacle. They’re also Packer fans. F ck them for ever. If it’s between them and the cardinals, Go Cardinals.

Cardinal pixie dust traveled from St. Louis to Milwaukee the moment Molina retired.

We need a horse SP. I know the offense blew it in the last game, but not a single starter could get through 5 innings in the playoffs. It's just not sustainable.

Yes, that huge being able to have that one guy who can carry the rotation and eat innings in the playoffs to save the bullpen.

Cubs don't have that Ace, they need to find that guy to go with Steele Horton Taillon and likely Imanaga.

That would be a solid rotation

I've gone back and forth on the Kittredge option decision, but I'm leaning toward $9M (8 after the buyout) being too much for what he brings at age 36.  Assuming if course that Ricketts will spend that money somewhere else.

The season went south on deadline day when Jed was unable to land impact talent. We slumped for weeks after. It's like the team sensed that the FO had no faith in them.

There are no legitimate excuses.

But I'm sure Jed and Ricketts will find "excuses".

the impending economic collapse caused by tom’s favorite president will do as an excuse

Perhaps, but it has not helped them when it matter the most. .

Only team Milwaukee can beat in the playoffs is the Cubs. Of course. 🤦‍♂️

Gonna get slaughtered by LA. 5 games, tops.

the failure at the trade deadline kept this team from having a chance to do something special.

there is obv a very small difference between these two teams and that difference manifested itself tonight by the brewers having a guy that throws 100+ be their bulk guy while the cubs depended on 35 year old journeyman colin rea.

just an unacceptably bad job by the front office, as usual.

I think the biggest thing is they lost Horton, he would have been a big upgrade and likely would have started 2 games this series.  Tucker did nothing tonight and could still be hurt.  Imanaga stunk it up down the stretch.  Steele is hurt.

Key bad luck to some of their best players.  Shaw was also terrible, PCA has the hitting approach of a 3-year old (looked a bit better this series).  At least it was a good series.

I‘m not sad, I’m angry. We have a ****** owner and a pretty piss poor front office. I know baseball will baseball, and higher payrolls don’t guarantee anything, but there are no excuses for this team to be looking up at the Milwaukee horsefeathers Brewers, regardless of Andrew horsefeathers Vaughn turning into Babe Ruth and Kyle Tucker devolving into Ian Happ. I don’t care that they made the playoffs; the frustration of yet another season where the offense absolutely horsefeathers the bed far exceeds any pleasure derived from watching October baseball with no real confidence in their ability to make a deep run. Thanks for allowing a meatball to meatball. Rant over.

The Brewers deserve credit for going on their insane run. Home field indeed was a factor in this series, and their pitching was ultimately the difference.

There's a lot of what could have been with injuries and the failure to add a rotation piece. But even then, I don't know if it would have been enough to overcome the offense's shortcomings, be it here or against the Dodgers.

It was a successful season, but there's work to be done this offseason.

the biggest issue is tom ricketts doesn’t care enough about winning, 90 wins should be closer to the floor than the ceiling

The Cardinals are our mortal enemies.  It’s not even a rivalry.  There’s a special kind of hatred between us.

The Brewers are rivals, fine.  Not the same level as the Cardinals.

Home field matters.

That’s very true. The only team that clinched the divisional series on the road this year was the Blue Jays.

The Starting Pitching should be easy to solve just go sign another good quality starting pitcher. But how do we solve are woeful offense that has so many people locked into their positions.

nico had at least one hit in each of his first 8 playoff games. i think the team record is 10 straight by ryno. good for him!

1. Wait why didn't Nico play in the 2020 playoffs?  Was he hurt?

2. That's wild since Ryno only played in 10 playoff games.

Yeah and for me it's fine to admit that temporarily they are more of a target because they've been successful in recent years and the Cubs haven't.  But all things equal I'd "root" (root is relative) for the Brewers over the Cardinals in a playoff series without question.
