I do like that 4th down plays are becoming more of a thing, but the Rams going for the win last night in OT seemed like the wrong call to me. I suppose the tying field goal with 2 1/2 minutes left seems like a bunt to try to get an extra run, but flat out losing the game going for it on 4th and 1 when you can at least get a tie and hope for a defensive turnover or missed field goal on the next series seems way better than what they did.

I don't normally like to watch pressers, but I would have loved to watch the McVay press conference last night. He probably got barbecued for that decision.

I think going for it was fine.

A first down puts them at the somewhere around 7-9 yard line with three shots at the TD and a win.

Whereas the tie still leaves around 3:30 on the clock. Pineiro, the SF kicker, is perfect on the year and 4-4 on the night ( 1 at 59 ) 13-16 on 50+ for his career.  The kickoff gives them the ball around the 25-30 meaning they only need 35-40 yards. SF has 1 timeout left and the two minute warning. Thus the playbook is wide open and the defense has to be at least somewhat honest, the classic prevent yourself from winning defense BS. SF can sit back in shotgun and easily check into runs multiple times against a light box. nickle and dime down to field goal range. Two moderate chunk plays and field goal game over. Lastly it is Kyle calling the plays for SF. He sees them twice a year, spent the week preparing for them and just watched the Rams defensive game plan for 60+ minutes.

I agree that going for it was fine as well, but running the ball up the middle and not letting your future HoF QB have the ball in his hands was really the issue I had with it.  I get the thought process of wanting to bleed the clock more so the other team can't score again if you do eventually kick the FG or winning outright with a TD, but that play call was questionable at best.

McVay basically said it was his call and a bad one. It was never an option in the moment to kick, and he really regretted that after the fact.

You always regret it when you don't make it.  I didn't watch this one.  Waaaay to high on the Cubbies yesterday.

Apparently anyone who is QB for Shanahan is at least a decent QB. I'm convinced if he had Fields, Fields would be a top 10 QB the rest of the way.

I’m convinced Fields would have been OK with a good coaching staff that could develop him properly, like what was done with Jordan Love.

Does anyone else like these bye weeks where you can just watch football with little or no emotional investment?  I do.

Umm. The Cubs are playing today, so there is still emotional investment of some sort on the Bears bye week. I still yell at the tv's because of my fantasy teams, also.

After the initial disappointment of realizing I forgot it was the bye week, yes.

Mark Sanchez who was in Indianapolis to do the Fox broadcast tomorrow was stabbed last night outside a nar and hospitalized with critical wounds. Though one report says he's now in stable condition.

Browns’ D is no joke.  It’ll probably make all their games close, win or lose.

Their D and Judkins being a stud from go is going to keep them in the playoff picture.

I find it interesting that genius QB whisperer McConnell' offenses look decidedly better with veteran former busts or star faded QB's.  Why didn't this happen with McCarthy?  I know McCarthy is out with an injury, when he did play, he had one good quarter.  A quarter that was more awful Bears defense than good Vikings offense.

100 career starts versus 2 is probably a pretty good reason.
