That was part of the reason the first two months the offense was amazing.  Now if they could find their dongs more often they could make a deep run

I actually don't mind small ball/retro situational hitting.  I'm pretty much over the "dong or K" mentality, although I'd imagine the MLB still prefers this.

That's what I was thinking, too.  It's like 10 or 11 LOB in 6 innings today.

It’s been a while since they homered with a runner one base.

The Pirates broadcast hasn't shown this entire at bat because their version of T-Mac is walking around showing all the dogs at Pup Night

And the dogs version some of the Cubs AB’s tonight would have been if they took a massive dump.

Cubs broadcast is saying they can’t clinch tonight because SF and Arizona are playing each other . Is that right ? If Reds lose and Arizona wins that would cancel Cin and SF .

The best Arizona can do is tie with Cubs and Cubs hold tiebreaker i believe ? Am I missing something ?

I don't think theyre looking at tie breaker scenario, just that the magic number will be 1

Thinking about playoffs roster with the bench and who'll be the 4 players on it.

I know the bench isnt as important now cause of DH so I was wondering if they got Billy Hamilton to be a runner for the playoffs and will Counsell allow Busch to play against Lefties or will he be starting Turner or Santana

Im just figuring Amaya for sure, after that I dont know.

A RH bat for first and 2 runners in Castro(IF)and Hamilton(OF)?

I think McGuire gets the nod over Amaya for the first series at least, Amaya has just missed too much time to rely on.

I wonder if Ballesteros gets a spot to be the LHB off the bench and Castro is just there to sub in defensively wherever he’s needed.

Castro has had a solid month of Sept

Not really. He has walked a lot.  Other than that he has done very little at the plate.

I think there are scenarios where the Cubs end up in a 3 team tiebreaker with Arizona and the Mets that the Cubs haven’t locked in yet so technically they can’t clinch tonight. Like if all 3 teams tied, there’s a possibility that ARI/NYM are WC2 and WC3 and the Cubs are eliminated.

It’s really hard to only score 4 runs on 14 hits. Hopefully we can close this game.

And 5 walks!  19 baserunners, 4 runs

So he is what he is....a valuable bench player. Why is everyone expecting an all star?

Maybe with McGuire, might depends on how Amaya looks the final week, i know hes playing tonight.
