Zacch Pickens was cut. One of Poles's higher picks from 2 years ago and a bust. That's not great for Poles's evaluation quality.

He was a cut candidate from the start of training, and a healthy scratch several times last season in a year they had a terrible DL. Not really a surprise.

Honestly I think the 2023 draft was pretty good.

First rounder Darnell Wright has been good to acceptable depending on injury.

Second rounder Gervon Dexter has been good and poised to break out into that next tier

Second rounder Tyrique Stevenson has been good

Third Rounder Zach Pickens is a bust

Fourth Rounder Roschon Johnson might end up being the lead back this year

Fifth Rounder Tyler Scott has been depth and stands a decent chance of not making the roster

Fifth Rounder Noah Sewell has been a back up and should make the team

Fifth Rounder Terrell Smith would have been a backup before the knee injury that will make him miss the season

That says more about Pickens then it does Poles.

So Tyler Scott is a roster cut then as well I assume?

I have to say I like the WR and TE corps quite a bit. Wish we had a starting RB I liked a little more to hit the hole hard, but I also have confidence in Johnson’s judgment on the running game.

That CB depth is less than comforting.

With Dennis Allen’s defensive scheme, pressure on the QB should take some pressure off the DBs. More INTs hopefully.

Schemes are nice but actual pass rushers are needed to pressure the QB

DE/EDGE was one of the main missing pieces going into the offseason and they didn't draft one or trade for one, and the guys they did sign via FA weren't world beaters, that's for sure. Not sure if they like what they got or they find someone on the waiver wire. Very weird how it never seemed like a focus by management.

Well, after three full seasons of Poles being in charge, going into his 4th, there were too many holes on the roster to be able to fill entirely. So they focused on the interior O line this year and the draft ended up heavily on the WR/TE groups early, which didn’t leave them much room to upgrade DL.

Presumably the pass rush will be addressed next year, but they still have OT issues and need younger depth on the interior OL since all three fixes were old short term options. They also need DB depth again despite an early emphasis there.

If Williams solidifies himself as THE guy then all that stuff will be easier to take care of. But if they also have to think about going QB early sometime in the next two drafts, the hopes will continue to multiply.

Jaylon totally sandbagged the preseason. Hope he kept in football shape. Ironic how he chirped about his contract and then went down with a soft tissue injury for exactly the entirety of the preseason.

I know this is the rumor going around but I don't buy it. I also am worried he will miss at least week 1.

Shutting down Jefferson would be huge with Addison out

Need pressure on that rookie QB to force TO's.

i'm taking it as a given the defense will be mediocre to bad

we're on year 3 or 4 of me being like 'i dont care if the defense is bad, just show improvement on the offense' and each time it doesn't improve. 🤷‍♂️

I'd be thrilled with mediocre to average. I think they're both optimistic if I'm being honest.

I think the defense will be fine if they stay reasonably healthy.  The depth in the secondary is problematic, especially if Johnson isn't healthy. Allen will scheme them into looks that confuse the opposition enough that I don't think they'll be awful.

Jaylon is healthy as a horse. Seems like Brisker is a major concern again, unfortunately.

yeah division got tougher this year but I’m glad the bears didn’t give up huge draft capital to hand out a huge contract to a non qb and chances are good that this won’t work out for gb

Here's to the Packders trading Parsons in three years with nothing accomplished.

With that said, the Packers are still all about Jordan Love. He does take a step forward in 2025, it won't matter they got Parsons.
