The recent bullpen success was always fools gold.  There are still some good arms, but not enough.

The Brewers are going to end up running away from us in the division again aren’t they?  They just consistently step up against us in big games while our guys shrink.  This game really pisses me off

That’s not the point. The point is there was no way Boyd was going to come out after 3. Can’t blow the entire pen in one game. So he would have used the non circle of trust guys and got bombed. Like they did after 5 innings.

I don’t know about that. This is the first really big game this team has played all year, so maybe they just have to get past that. Boyd sure looked nervy.

Exactly, sometimes a manager has to push a starter or a reliever to go a little longer to avoid using more of his bullpen later.

Cant tax them all in one game, then they'll be stuck tomorrow with pushing a starter to go longer in a close game.
