Also about the Marlins, I wonder what they do at the deadline?  They are 26-12 in their last 38 games if they win this game.  5 games out of the playoffs fine but do you want to sell when your team is playing like this?

I really believe the lack of a decent bench to where CC can feel confident enough to start these guys more is starting to have an affect on some of these hitters just looking cooked at the plate now because of minimal days off.

This why I always criticize the bench setup and wish it were better, because despite one them not being counted on much because of DH, you still need a competent bench that you can trust so you can get guys full days off and trust they will be more then just dead weight in the lineup.

So, for going forward, yes it'll be great to add Suarez if the price isnt crazy and if the plan is to use Shaw in a super utility role but I'd be more then happy too if they get a guy like Castro or someone who can also play that role and eliminate at least Brujan from the bench.

I wonder that, too. I don't think they'll trade their players with the way they're playing as of late. I think they'll eventually sell, but they have the Cardinals next...

That where teams like this need to dig deep and realize they may be pretenders and not contenders, especially when they have multiple teams ahead of them that are also chasing.

Brewers managed to get both Marlins runners out on the same pickoff play it sounds like to end the inning. Wtf

Different plays. Picked off the runner on second. Then a couple pitches later they threw a pickoff to 1st and the runner took off. They threw him out at second.

I think that's ultimately what will happen.  Not a full sell off but some selling.  A team like the Marlins has to be legit contending or in a decent position to contend to keep their guys.  Otherwise, they are always looking at the long term outlook and looking for ways to sell high and build up prospect base.

Great to see Shaw coming around, I've a theory that guys who hit well at every level have a decent chance to something at the major league level.

Cubs are probably gonna take this one but man lately they are fumbling an astronomical amount of runners on base, which generally means the Baseball Gods punish you for your hubris

In all fairness, this has been a problem for the Cubs for the last 5-ish years.
