Yeah, from what Matt said during out live stream, it sounds like the Cubs are pushing to get a controllable arm, be it SP (their preference) or a RP (if they can't get a controllable SP). Preference is Cabrera for SP.

So I think they'll pursuit that until they can't.

I know what Abel is ranked and Wiggins is freshly climbing the rankings, but I think Wiggins has much higher upside than Abel. I understand the point of the tweet… yes technically that would be the Cubs equivalent, but it’s not apples to apples

Per Matt, it sounds like they'd pivot to rental types if they have to. There should be enough of them that even if they feel they need to pivot later if a Cabrera or a Bednar type isn't going to materialize.

I think Luzardo and Bregman both could have been shots to significantly improve the Cubs and Jed didn't even come close.  The prospect capital the Phillies ended up paying wasn't exactly a haul. The Cubs could have offered what it would took to sign Bregman but Jed struck out again.

But aside from starting pitching, they do need a bench hitter and a reliever.  I thought maybe they'd lock in one of those minor type of moves by today.  I guess there is still time.

I'd probably do it, as great as Wiggins is.  Duran might just be the best closer in baseball and brings 2.5 years of control.

That package is like one Rojas away from a possible Ryan or Gore package which would be quite a bit better ROI in my opinion.

the Phils scare me, probably more than any NL team.  I think the Cubs can beat anyone else when they are clicking
