Let’s hope the Rockies aren’t horsefeathers this weekend.

Nope

I think they can kiss that division lead goodbye

Let’s just stew on this for five minutes without someone posting that Cade Horton had a good start 10 days ago and five starts ago he threw the slider well and he got all those strikes and all those hitters were baffled by his changeup, please!

It’s okay to say he has been terrible tonight and just leave it at that.

We traded the wrong 3B ;(

MLB scouts are like meteorologists. Can continue to be wrong and still have a job.

Such a good 3B that he's playing RF

To be fair, the Astros may have preferred him anyway. And I think we fired all the scouts.

Because the other guy the Cubs traded for Tucker is on pace for a 4 win season

He has been real bad tonight, no question. Doesn't mean he's a bad pitcher

Realistically he should be a 5th starter or swingman and we can live with up and down performances but with Taillons recent form and Rea he’s needed for 3rd starter production. So getting blown up today means we’re in a 0-1 hole with Rea and Taillon the next 2 days

No, it doesn’t. Just that listing his previous pitching prowess does nothing to alleviate an upset fanbase tonight. But hey, that’s baseball I suppose.

Because they already had a 3B but he hit so well they had find a spot for him.

Seriously, who the horsefeathers is this Trammell clown that Cubs keep pitching to him like he's dangerous?  He, with a negative career war.

It's pretty incredible the Cubs traded 2 3B's in one deal who are both significantly better than all of their 4+ internal options.

Obviously that doesn't tell the whole story because they got Tucker, but it is still unusual.

Sometimes I wish I had an online betting account so I could bet exclusively on completely obvious things like "Cam Smith will torch the Cubs in his first series against them."

Nice mess you have there Hottovy the world renowned pitching supreme leader

I don't really blame him honestly. Steele, Assad and Shota got hurt and they had to press Rea, Brown and Horton into the rotation. Rest is history. They pitched well for a while but Brown's glaring lack of a 3rd pitch has him back in Iowa, Rea is a bullpen arm that should go back to the bullpen and Horton is green. Tallion imploding at just the wrong time has made matters worse obviously.

Not so sure that trading for one vet to try and stabilize the situation will work or not. Sellers market as usual or I think Jed would've already pulled the trigger. Report out today he's trying to pry Lugo away from KC but again, they won't budge until they can get max value, which is the norm.

With Shaw I'd settle for one good game, let alone, a good week.  Honestly, right now, it appears the probability of Shaw having a good game is almost zero.  That hanger Smith hit, the same pitch, Shaw hits it weakly to RF.

Yeah, I never really understood that criticism.  Cam played 3b all throughout college and while in the Cubs minor league system, he's not some bum like Morel that can't handle the position.
