2024 Fangraphs Top 100 Prospect List: PCA 20, Shaw 32

2025 Fangraphs Top 100 Prospect List: Shaw 13

Through 170 PAs last year (Shaw is at 167 going into today), PCA was slashing 194/241/284. Shaw is at 225/299/325.

Obviously I'm not saying that we should expect a similar progression. But they were absolutely similarly regarded, Shaw is doing better at this point in his major league career, the learning curve at the MLB level is very steep, and this weird thing where Shaw's development is somehow tied to people thinking Dansby sucks in specific at bats is dumb and should stop.

Absolutely.  Put me in this camp.  Let Shaw adjust for goodness sake.

And our starting catcher who went from arguably our second best hitter in April and some of May to going 10 for his last 100 is now 2 black holes instead of 1 black hole+piazza. Third in the league and will likely keep dropping until Amaya comes back.

I mean, we were second in baseball through April, and a month and 20 days later we've fallen all the way to...third.  This isn't some freefall. The Yankees just went like 30 innings without scoring a run and their offense is a buzzsaw. These stretches happen.

Wouldn't be a true Sammy Sosa day without a corresponding McGuire HR.

I feel like he’s about to head to a bar after the game where he will start an Austin Powers style promiscuous dalliance and retelling stories of his prowess at the plate.

Just to add; the Dodgers dropped 30 points of wRC+ in June as well; a team that everyone was ready to essentially give the WS to on Opening Day. So that's the Yankees (as you've pointed out) and the Dodgers who are struggling recently. It's almost like this is what happens when you play 162 games.

nice, bullpen regression lines up perfectly with the 12 runs we've scored in the last 15 innings.

I called it earlier in this thread
