I for one don't really care...

Pujols might get the vote, but I would rather have him in the DH spot. Lee is AMAZING around the bag.

If Albert gets the vote, it wouldn't surprise me to see Tony flip them by the 2nd inning.

If the DH enters the field, the pitcher has to hit for himself. In this case, it would mean removing Pujols from the game.

Everyone needs to vote for Lee as much as they can! Get your friends, neighbors, coworkers, children, even your pets to vote Lee!

Lee has had a fantastic first half so far. But don't be surprised if Pujols passes him up by the break. They're both going to be on the team, so I don't see what the big deal is.

Why are people dumb? I'm guessing most of these people haven't watched an ounce of baseball this year they just get their ballot and choose the names that they know.

Considering that Lee is a superior defender, has stolen almost as many bases this season as Pujols has in his entire career and is currently besting him at the plate I'd say he's earned the honor of being the starting first baseman rather than DH.

Keep in mind...2 years ago, Bonds was elected to start in the outfield....but he was put at DH and Edmonds started in the OF in his place. So it is very possible that Pujols gets elected to start, but is put at DH and Lee at first instead

How in the world is Pujols being ahead of Lee...the result of a popularity contest? Both are hitting well and have outstanding gloves. You can make a case for Piazza, Nomar and maybe a couple more...but Pujols is a deserving player of leading the vote (even if Lee is having a better year to this point).

Isn't putting Pujols in Lee's league on defense a bit of a stretch? How many gold gloves does Pujols have?

"and maybe a couple of more "- Like Scott (DL) Rolen and Larry (4th place) Walker?

I'd vote for Lee but I'm in a full body cast on account of an unspeakable accident at the most recent tractor pull I attended.

I must dictate this to a surrogate typist, who refuses to vote for Lee on my behalf.

Good post Vaball - nice to see not everyone has lost their sense of humor. BTW, are tractor pulls more fun than square dances?

I'll give you those guys on the "and a couple more"....I was referring to the starters though....but that is what I am talking about.

Pujols is a very underrated 1B.....to me he is the smartest in the game....but obviously he isn't going to make the diving stops of a D. Mient(bunch of other letters) or Helton.....but as far as overall defensive 1B, he is up there...Lee may be better....but there isn't a huge gap between the two.

This is only Pujols' second season as a first baseman. He can already pick a ball out of the dirt with the best of them. He always knows where to throw the ball and isn't afraid to be aggressive with throws to the plate or throws to second.

He is definitely underrated as a defensive first baseman.

He's currently sporting a .993 FP, 10.98 RF, and .846 ZR. Compare that to the first two years of Lee's career and Pujols' first two years are just as good.

As for career averages as a 1B, Pujols has almost the same FP, and a better RF, and ZR than Lee.

I wouldn't know. I've never been to either. I do however have it on good authority that both are more fun than being a Cubs fan.

Count me in as one who's changed my vote. Albert will win his share of accolades in due time. Lee's completely deserving and deserves the accolades at this point. He needs to be recognized for what looks to be shaking out as a stellar career year. I'm just hoping when he eventually lowers his .380 BA, it's against the Cards. He has single handedly carried the Cubs on offense this year, night in and night out.

He (Pujols) is definitely underrated as a defensive first baseman.

Agreed, but he's not in the same class now defensively as Lee. When Ramirez came to the Cubs, his errors (which were mostly throwing) went form 30+ to around 15. I would attribute that entirely to Lee - not the Cubs coaching staff or Ramirez's work ethic. Again, D. Lee has earned his gold glove status.

25 more votes for Lee, Perez, and Dubois.

(Along with my scrub AL team. Man I'd love it if Greg Zaun started at catcher!)

I could use some help.

Here's what you do:

1. Go to Yahoo.

2. Register a new email. (Takes like one minute.)

3. Go to MLB.com and vote 25 times with said email. (Takes like 5 mins with a high speed connection.)

4. Repeat steps 1-3.

100 votes a day per person is all I ask. If 200 people do this, with 29 days left imagine the difference we could make. What's even better is pre-emptive strike friends who are Cardinal fans and vote with their email address. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/images/smiles/eusa_whistle.gif

Don't you think by voting for Dubois you are being just like those dumb fans that vote for Nomar at SS or Pujols at 1B?

I can kinda see voting for a scrub AL team since you are an NL fan and this game counts ;)

Yeah, that's not the scenario CCF proposed though. He had TLR switching them during the game.

2 things I didn't know:

The DH rule. Thanks for the info Cpat20.

That a player can start at a different position than what they were voted in as.

If That's the case, there's no question that Lee should start at 1b and Pujols at DH.
