I don't think i would say the Mets are a bigger rival...but the Mets are the only team that I really hate (unless Santana is pitching)> But agree that Mets fans wouldn't agree. If the schedules were still even, then maybe though. Now saying that the Astros are more of a rival...you might have a better argument.

I believe he took over full time at first in 04....with some time here and there before that...I would consider him a first basemen for most of the decade. I want to say that i would take Helton over him though...then again...Helton is my favorite player so I may be biast. Rolen I think is a no brainer....No convinced that Everett and Utley are the right choice....but noone jumps out at me as being better either.

I honestly think it is mostly due to the fact that they give a fair amount of coverage to every team, not just the Yanks and Sox. Personally i love tuning in after a game and getting live look ins as well as the highlights of every game

It truely is a shame that he isn't in the Hall. i just don't understand it myself looking at his numbers....unfortunetly I'm not old enough to have gotten to see him play myself. I just wonder if the fact that he publically makes it known that he wants in so badly has actually come to hurt his chances? Not saying that is right..because obviously it isn't...I just wonder! I do however feel that if by some chance he passes on before he gets in.....His love for the Cubs, along with his numbers (obviously) would get him in shortly after. But it certainly shouldn't go down that way.

Agreed that the lack of current starting pitching will be the Cards downfall, but they are by no means out of it. Are the Cards as talented as the Cubs or Brewers this year.....prolly not! But they do prolly have more experience in playing in pressure packed games. I don't think this week changed the Cards view as far as being sellers or buyers this year. The team stressed going into this week that they believed they still had a shot to win this year...so this weeks Brewers series did little to influence that decision. I do however think if the team makes it through August....they have a favorable schedule in September...Its set up perfectly for a run. CIN(2); PIT (4); Az (3); Cin (3); CHI (4); PHI (3); HOU (4); Mil (3); and Pit (3) That being said....The Cubs win the division by 5+ games :( ......just don't discard the cards yet! :) P.S. .....The Cards were home watching the playoffs in 95 along with the Cubs....it was 96 that they blew the 3-1 against ATL.....and have 7 more pennets than the Cubs, not 5 more!

Didn't they actually cut salary this year? New stadium, WS windfall, and yet they don't add salary. Actually the new stadium was the reason they were able to raise the payroll the years preciding the new stadium......contrary to popular belief, the team never said it was going to raise the payroll once the stadium was here. Mike Shannon hasn't drank for years in the booth. Didn't say anything about in the booth did I? Just two guys with different interests. I think the problem was spending too much time on his cell phone while the game was in progress.

Well he does have 3HR and a 3B in the past week. Not exactly tearing it up other than that, but it looks like it is a TLR vote of confidence in him. Plus against LHers, TLR usually puts a RH behind Pujols.

I just don't know how they could get away with not knowing the proper ages of players these days. With crackdown on visas and all, I would of thought it would have been figured out by now if he was actually older. That is however the way that most of the players who got caught lying about thier age was caught.

If he gets in, its because of his Defense not his offense. He just happens to have decent offensive numbers to go along with the GG's. Agree he needs 2 more pretty good offenisve years though to be considered seriously for the HOF.

Anyone notice that this very thread (or basically this same thread) is posted by the same person 4-5 times in the last year or so. It never accomplishes anything, and I am sure it never will! As for Shannon/Santo, they are the same thing to each teams fans. They annoy the other teams fans and are loved by thier own fans (even though they are certainly something that thier own fans laugh at at times as well) Wasn't this Sporting News poll done in the early 2000's. It could be out of date by now, unless something has new has been released. And if this is the case, maybe the opinion of Baker could have changed since he has sinced changed jobs. As for the incidents in the bleachers, this happens at every ball park in baseball. Its even happened in STL for years. The only reason its getting attention now is because of the booing going on IMO. They are wanting to put a stop to that, so I think that is the motivation for the article. As for booing, not a fan of it myself anyway, but what is going on with Izzy and Encarnacion is just ridiculous since we are only into the 3rd week of the season. As for the Lee Thread on STLToday site, many hated to see that Lee got hurt in that thread. You just can't just point out a few dumb remarks by posters and generalize that as "The posters at CardsTalk". You have to keep in mind, its not NSBB over there, there isn't anyone who puts a stop to the nonsense over there. Anyway, hope everyone enjoys this weekends games
