UGGGGGGGGGGH I turn on Cold Pizza for 1 minute and they are talking about Lee "Chase" for the Triple Crown. Woody Paige said that he wouldn't do it, but PUJOLS COULD, and that this is right on with his career he ALWAYS starts really hot, and than cools done. I know June is usually his month, but to say Lee always starts hot when he usually sucks in April and most of May I don't see how that could be the case (I also know he cools down at the end, but really if he totally shattered the April slump, who can honestly predict how he'll do???) Skip Bayless than agreed and continued the Pujols love fest, throwing in a bit Arod love too :x :x :x They were so happy to dismiss Lee.

Before this I didn't think Lee had a shot at the Triple Crown, and really didn't think it was a realistic goal, but NOW I really, really am pulling for him to shut up all the Baseball experts.

If I'm on vacation somewhere and there's a major league game being played there I'm likely to go to it. Just because it isn't a Cubs game doesn't mean I don't enjoy going to it.

That's how I am as well. Last year, I went to Astros-Reds, Braves-Marlins, and Astros-Expos games because I could.

I'll go to a Red Sox-Twins this year and also went to a Rangers-Indians. (Even though I'd say the Rangers are my second favorite team.)

When I'm visiting the in-laws I'm going to a Cards-Brewers game this year. I just hope Sheets is pitching that game.

Keep voting Vance.

Vance doesn't have a chance to land one of those spots.

Just FYI, I'm a Cardinals fan and I voted for Lee. As much as I hated to do it, right now he's having the better year and thus deserves the spot over Pujols. Besides, Pujols will most likely get the DH spot anyway...right?

One would think La Russa would rather have a gold glove at first (since the game matters) and Pujols at DH - essentially giving his best player three days off. Sounds like that would be a win-win for the Cardinals. Inuries do happen in all-star games - just ask Ray Fosse. He was never the same player.

Getting email addies is easy. Just keep registering for new ones at yahoo. It takes a couple of minutes. I highly reccomend it. I'm going to keep doing my part, but I need the troops to rally behind me.

Is it even really necessary to register the email address? I mean, can't you just type in any random email address and vote? It's not like they send you a confirmation email or anything. Whenever I have to put in an email address for something and I don't have to confirm anything, I just usually use no@shutup.com or something like that.

Have they released an updated vote count since June 1st?

I've found that you can use the same email address just change the name and the birthdate. I use my first initial and last name on two email accounts, so after hitting the limit, I changed the first name to my sister who has the same initial and it was allowed. So I just made up names and birthdates. Got 150 in.

Very impressive and creative jim160. You'd make a great Chicago captain.

We need to recruit some Red Sox fans to the cause.... in exchange for supporting Tek and others, I'm sure they'd thow votes DLee's way.

250 votes and counting BTW -- hardly in vance's league, but doing my little bit in between annoying distractions from work. :D

No, no you can't Vance:

From http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=/mlb/news/AAN3933904.htm :

Pujols, who is hitting .333 with 14 homers and 45 RBI this season, has received 748,844 votes and holds a comfortable lead of more than 300,000 votes over his nearest competitor at 1B, Chicago's Derrek Lee.

300,000, though... if 1,000 people can get 300 votes in (I've done 100) then that would close the gap to almost nothing. I like the idea of forging an alliance, though - I remember Carlos Zambrano got injured, it could well have been clicking to vote for DLee.

Not necessarily...you have to take into account all the votes Pujols would get during that time as well. If there were no votes at all for Pujols, then the gap would close. But, it's fairly evident he'll be getting votes so you'd have to do more than "close the gap." Have fun!

So where have all the national and other prognosticators gone that predicted D. Lee's numbers would fall dramatically by mid-June?

It's mid June. D. Lee's at .386, 18, 56. Leading or tied in all triple crown categories. Gold glove fielder. Some fall.

The gap between Pujols and Lee has closed from 300K to 200K. Nomar and Griffey are (deservedly) dropping. Aramis and Barrrett's vote total are rising. Maybe the voters aren't as dumb as a lot of us thought. Or maybe it's just the fact that the Cubs have been at home - whatever works!

Another 100 votes cast today. Let's get this ball rolling. Voting ends on Thursday so we have less than a week to close the gap.

Everyone needs to vote 100 times a day. With a high speed connection, it only takes 15-20 minutes.

An alliance with Red Sox fans would do the trick. They have a large and dedicated fan base. I can't fathom forming an alliance with White Sox or Yankee fans.

I don't think 5 votes would help much anyway.

When I started this post/endeavor six weeks, things looked bleak with D. Lee 350K votes behind. But thanks to the valiant efforts of true cubs fans like "Vance the Cub Fan" the goal is in site. I don't have a problem with Pujols being the DH. But the MVP for the half, MVLee deserves to start at first as a matter of principal.

Keep up the good work Cubs fans.

Is Lee a better fielder than Pujols?

by far.

i'm using the @redbirdcentral.com e-mails that the guy who runs that site advertised on the stltoday board when the guy from here posted the "all-star cheat" :)

hope they enjoy e-mails about the cubs and red sox..hehehe

ok, for the past 3 days i have been having the name, e-mail, and birthdate being replaced with some Maria george chick and getting the same validation key every time. I have voted over 500 times and it never gives me the "used up" notice at all. I am beginning to think to none of these votes will count but every time i try and change the info, it goes right back to this. WTF????????

(and not to sound self righteous or anything, but i crushed my right hand in a garage door tonight and I am still here sufferng through the pain in an effort to vote.....that is my devotion to one DLee.... )
