if you are so much more than us cards fans, then act like it

If you all knew anything about TLR, is that he loves to win.

Guess what, he will pick the best players, and play them.

Remember, the winner gets home field adv. in the world series.

It sure will be nice when the cards get homefield adv.

D. Lee is having a great year. As of right now, he deserves the starting nod, but with his avg. falling, AP is quietly catching him in all those stats.

So come All star break, AP will have the same if not better numbers than D. Lee

Regardless of who starts, I am sure the other will be in the DH role.

and are you serious about putting dubois in the fill in blanks.

Zambrano will make the team as well. But rest assure though, TLR won't throw him for 140 pitches. It will be the only time cubs fans won't have to worry about an manager over using Crazy Z

I for one don't really care...

Pujols might get the vote, but I would rather have him in the DH spot. Lee is AMAZING around the bag.

If Albert gets the vote, it wouldn't surprise me to see Tony flip them by the 2nd inning.

Hell yeah I'm serious about writing in Dubois!

Wait, wasn't this thread started to complain about Cards fans not voting for the best player?

It's not my fault you've yet to recognize the greatness that is Jason Dubois.

Interesting discussion on how people vote for the All Stars, http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=caple/neel/050513

I especially like Neel and Caple's post its on each others votes.

I typically weigh season performance to date more heavily, but if it's close, I give the nod to the overall career performer. I never vote for former all star players that are injured to date (i.e. Bonds), but I also don't vote for up and comers out of nowhere based on half a season (i.e. Barmes).

I vote all Cubs...and then I attempt to sabotage the AL team.

Right now my AL ballot looks like:

1b- Erstad

2b- Boone

3b- Gonzalez

SS-Reese

C-Zaun

OF-J. Gonzalez

OF- E. Brown

OF- B. Williams

DH- Pickering

And 25 more votes for Dubois, Lee, and Perez!

it's not likely that LaRussa will select too many Cubs for the roster.

Well it is safe to say he will not be looking at the Cubs bullpen for help. He will take Prior and maybe Zambrano. quote] I don't think Tony is going to take Prior. Obviously, he's been hurt and hasn't started many games. He's been lights out when he has, but I just can't see it.

I don't think that he likes Prior personally, either. Did anyone else read that excerpt in SI from the book about LaRussa(written by the Friday Night Lights author)? He really bashed Prior, said he hadn't "earned his stripes" or whatever.

Voice -- welcome to the forum and an excellent first post.

Get out the vote Cubs fans. The NL MVP-so-far needs to be the starting first baseman in Detroit this summer.

he'll DH if he doesn't start at first though. either way, he'll start. but he's still a better fielder than pujols. although he still has a ways to go to catch him offensively.

that probably wont happen since pujols is not even in his prime, while Lee might just be having one of the better career years of all time. Pujols will probably continue to mature, and grow offensively, while this might be the best well ever get from Lee...but hes still gettin my vote :)

Does the manager for each team really get to pick all the pitchers?

Not anymore. There's a player's vote on the reserves. Then I think the manager gets to pick the last five or six spots. And in doing that, he has to still make sure each team is represented. He has a lot less leeway than he has had in the past.

I voted for Pujols (go figure), but I would not be upset if Lee was voted in, given my own voting criteria I outlined. Lee has enough of a track record to merit it. My theory in voting for Pujols is solely based on honors he's been passed up for before due to the Bonds factor. I also think he'll close the gap somewhat before the break (although you wouldn't know it looking at Lee's recent performance).

This applies to reserve position players or pitchers?

Sad part is there are 10X as many White Sox fans doing the same thing. So it doesnt even get close to evening out

I'd prefer that Lee, and all the Cubs for that matter, take a 3-day break to rest up for the second half than risk injury playing in an overhyped exhibition game.

I'd vote for Lee but I'm in a full body cast on account of an unspeakable accident at the most recent tractor pull I attended.

I must dictate this to a surrogate typist, who refuses to vote for Lee on my behalf.
