If true, I'd like to think the Bears are capable of firing Poles into to the sun.  But, the realist part of me says there's no horsefeathers way the Bears are choosing Johnson over Poles.  With the Bears and McCaskey' inane notion of organizational stability, stupidity reigns supreme.  An owner truly committed to winning, when whats currently in place is not working, would be willing to try anything to get on the path to competitiveness.  Unfortunately, for us that's not McCaskey.

If all that’s true, the McCaskeys aren’t really that tired of losing. And I’m very afraid that they aren’t willing to clean house and do what needs to be done to clean the stink from this organization. That’s why the McCaskeys are the owners of a losing team nearly every year.

I'd fire Poles into the sun, but it's pretty logically inconsistent to decide he's safe as your GM except for Johnson.

They should just do the simple thing and fire Poles, but I guess they really believe in him.  Maybe it's because Flus was really forced on him and his ass FA spending is really ownership being cheap and a multidide of other reasons that excuse him. Or they just suck.

This and someone should inform McCaskey his organization has no stability and there won't be any until he hits on the right combination of GM and HC.

For McCaskeys, it's actually simpler: get the right coach.  GM can backfill to the coach. Them trying to assertain a GM-HC relationship is too complex for them. The HC role is much more important so everything should flow from that job first.

We don't know for certain but, at the moment, hiring Johnson and dumping Poles appears to be the "right" decision.  There's a high probability the Bears will not do this, they'll horsefeathers the decision and Caleb up.  horsefeathers up a potential superstar franchise QB is going to be the most egregious error the Bears will ever commit.  What's more is this isn't even all that hard, I believe most any ownership and us fans can see the path to being competitive.

I know the money keeps flowing regardless of outcomes.  However, I thought these millionaire types have massive egos, does McCaskey like being the laughing stock of the NFL?  Has this guy any pride or balls?

What has Poles done to develop trust in the organization? I mean, seriously? If they want Johnson but it's some package deal. Take Johnson and wish Poles the best on his next opportunity.

The Bears want organizational stability and he did make an all-time trade. He picked or re-signed Caleb and DJ and Sweat and Rome and Edwards and Jalen and Wright and Kmet. That’s a solid foundation and prospective coaches see that. The McCaskeys also might see that as enough despite Poles’ misses as long as Warren looks over his shoulder.

To his credit, George has been very open to hiring minorities. If he pushes to fire Poles, some media members are going to hammer him for not giving Poles enough time and I don’t think George wants those optics.

That's worse than Poles repeatedly horsefeathers up and keeping his team mired in losing?

If Poles wanted to replace Eberflus last year and was denied, then the optics of firing him look bad. If he was in on keeping him, he’s has more than enough time to fix what he purposely broke. Everything Poles said about retaining Eberflus suggests he was on board. If he was not, he had no reason to vociferously support him.

I agree but we know how this will go.

They hire Vrabel keep Poles, and it comes out in a year or two, Johnson was set to sign with the Bears but Warren/McCaskey were adamant Poles was their GM. Johnson goes to Jacksonville instead who becomes a perennial playoff team with Lawrence in the MVP conversation while the Bears struggle to 8-9. Williams doesn't reach his potential. Rinse, repeat.

Not for me, but I’m giving reasons why Bears brass might want to keep him

Bears simply refuse to hire a coach who has any head coaching experience, huh? I have no beef with Ben Johnson, but they do love hiring coordinators to their first ever HC position

It's about money mostly, however I would think Johnson's asking price will be very high for a 1st year HC

Pretty sure he's the only person with prior HC experience since before the George Halas era

If we end up with Flores I'm just out as a fan. It'd be the same stupid horsefeathers they always try and do. Oh we need to be monsters of the midway and play Bear football. Continuously trying to chase 1985  because apparently that's the only way the McCaskeys believe you can win. It hasn't worked for 4 decades, wake the horsefeathers up already.

Are they really that stupidly stubborn?  I know, rhetorical question.  Without rule changes the defense, defense BS is never going to work, again can they be that stupidly stubborn?

The recent hire of Eberflus and that Vrabel and Flores are prime candidates says, yes they are that stupid.
