This thread is reserved for talk about future All-Star, leadoff hitter extraordinaire and second baseman Eric Patterson.

In today's Eric news, he won the first Player of the Week honors in the Midwest League after hitting over 1.000 for the week with 55 SB. He then went out and got on base 4 times, scoring 3 runs and starting a campaign for another player of the week award. He will have tough competition from his teammate Ryan Harvey, who flipped out and hit 3 HR, driving in 7 runs.

Updates to follow as events warrant.

My Eric-related sig is better than yours, Truf.

That's OK, Eric knows who his #1 fan is at NSBB. He's glad to have you aboard the bandwagon nice and early, though, and will remember your support when he becomes a star revered by all Cub fans and feared by all Cardinal fans.

Eric Patterson...

Invented the post-it note but gave the credit to 3M.

Has the power to turn himself invisible, but only when no one else is watching.

Always knows just the right spot to pet a kangaroo.

Chiseled Mt. Rushmore out of the mountainside with his teeth, and then used the rubble to construct half of St. Louis.

To Eric Patterson!

nitpicking, but i'd like to point out that he didn't hit better than 1.000 -- his OPS was over that mark. that said, he had one helluva week. i'd kinda like to think he'll continue to steal 10 bases a week for the whole season, thus destroying all sb records known to man.

this thread would be a perfect place for me to mention that you can win an epatt autographed jersey card in the auction in baseball discussions...all proceeds go to nsbb!

I heard that Eric Patterson once killed a man for not signaling before switching lanes. He's a true american.

How long till he is promoted to Daytona, Im thinking he should have started there. Dont they normaly start college players at a higher level? I need to get over to Daytona and catch a game this year, Id like to see him there.

I once saw EPATT helping an elderly lady cross the street in Peoria. When an UPS truck nearly hit them both, he refrained from flipping the driver off, continued to assist the old hag, and then chased down the brown menace, turning it over in the street and ripping the evil delivery man's head off.

edit: Everyone clapped and gave him high-fives.

Eric Patterson's jock is so big, we're all standing on it right now.

If I were a gay man I would want to sleep with Eric Patterson.

Update on the man, the myth, the legend...

he is now 2-2 today and if he manages a hit in his next ball put in play, he'll be at exactly .500 for the season. His only mistakes today were getting picked off once, and not hitting home runs in either at bat.

E-Patt made BA's Prospect Hot List. Here's the comment:

Patterson fell to the eighth round in last year's draft, but received fourth-round money ($300,000) out of Georgia Tech. So far that looks like a bargain as the younger brother of Corey leads the Midwest League in runs (15), hits (18), on-base percentage (.596) and stolen bases (10).

How often in history have two brothers starred on the same team?

Starred? I suppose that is too subjective of a word to get a consensus. The Ripkens, Cansecos, Guerreros, Martinezes and Boones immediately come to mind. But, usually one brother is head and shoulders above the other. Pedro and Ramon might be the only two that were legitimate stars at points in their careers, but not at the same time on the same team.

Edit: Or, you can just read Garwilly's response if you page down more. :x

On a more serious note, I'd like to see Patterson get a quick promotion to Daytona just to see what he can do. It's obvious to me that he's head and shoulders better than the competion in low A.

This kid should be on the fast track to Wrigley.

I would say since the waners both made the hall of fame they were starring at the same time.

The last brothers to play together for the Cubs were Rick and Paul Reuschel, although you can't really say that Paul "starred" in any sense.

I'm going to see the Chiefs on April 30, so I hope they hold off on the Daytona promotion for a little bit.

I guess since Im co-founder of the C-Patt bandWGN, he would be mad if I didn't root for his lil bro right? Im game...

Paul is the husband of the superintendent of the high school I went to. He's a real nice guy.
