Horner to IR.  Presumably that makes vjj active.

I wouldn't mind some reshuffling of RB to move Swift down.  He's not The Reason the running game is struggling, but he's a little too timid hitting muddy but workable inside holes on zone read and hoping a home run lane outside is open, and that's just not realistic with how our OL has looked.  We could minimize the suffering with a guy willing to bang through those interior holes for a couple yards at a time.

Keenan Allen already ruled out for this game (as are Blasingame, Horner and Pickens).   You get what you get with 30+ year old WRs with lower body issues, at least we only paid a fourth and didn't extend him.

With him not getting a contract and showing up to camp overweight it's starting to feel like he's sandbagging. Really disappointing. I thought he would be the perfect security blanket for a rookie QB and be open all day.

I can't imagine he's sandbagging. There is probably nothing worse for an older NFL player than missing games on a big contract. He missed several games over the last few years, so he can just assume he's not getting a multi-year contract after this year if he continues missing games. And actually, that could work out in the Bears favor in possibly bringing him back on a reasonably priced yearly deal if he does prove healthy, sans the first 3 or 4 games.

Yeah, I don't think he's not trying. This is just what a 32-year-old WR with a history of lower body issues looks like. And next year he'll be a 33-year-old WR with a longer history of lower-body issues.

I'm sure there's a price at which I would bring him back next year, but it's not something I'd be counting on or making a big investment in.

So digging into a bunch of Colts video, my opinion of this Bears team will drop considerably if they can't win this game.

The Colts defense is just nothing special at every level.  They don't have anything that disrupts the way the Titans and Texans do.  If we can't put up a touchdown per half offensively against this, then we're a lot closer to looking at draft position in December than playoff standings.

Anthony Richardson is going to make about 4-6 throws a game that there's just nothing you can do about, and he's going to spray a dozen nowhere near where they're supposed to go.  We just have to do to him what the Packers always did to Fields and Trubisky: Sit back and make him play QB, let him lose it for them.

The only good part of the Colts is their offensive line, so all those "da trenches" fans get to see their prototype on display.

It looks like Pryor will be LG and allow Jenkins to move back to his more natural position of RG.   Maybe that helps? Please? Please can we have like two touchdowns?

Where are you seeing LG? The tweet you linked says Pryor at RG.

I'm like 60% sure I saw something about them practicing this week with Pryor at LG and Jenkins at RG, but I could be wrong.

I just read that Jenkins will go to RG too.

Edit. It's just speculation on reddit. But it should be the correct move

I would have to imagine half of the stadium should be Bears fans.

Go Bears! I think the offense gets their horsefeathers together

That's what I think, too. Their defense should not be able to stop DJ, Rome and Cole. Sprinkle in the other guys lining up when the Colts bring pressure. I know it can't be easy recognizing blitz coverage or executing quick plays with pressure coming, but that's what they should have been studying and practicing all week. Burn them quick, and then settle down with the running game after they back off with the pressure.

Friend said the other day this was the most expensive ticket this weekend on the secondary market. Those HAVE to be going to Bears fans making the trip. No other logical reason for this game to be the hottest ticket.

As always, I primarily hope to see improvement from Williams. We saw some last week, let's see some more.

1 - he must start hitting some of these downfield throws. These aren't 40 yard sideline go routes.  These are guys open 20 yards downfield that you must hit both for the immediate production and the respect it forces from defenses

2) He was hitting wide open soft targets for short completions well enough against Houston, but eventually he needs to start recognizing that single coverage with leverage is open in the NFL and throw to that leverage

3) he needs to see the blitz as he drops and throw to where the blitz came from as soon as he hits the back of his drop. Better blitz pick-up would be ideal but it's never going to be perfect every time.  He has a tendency to keep looking at his pre-snap read side even if the blitz comes from the other side, and he is just plain too optimistic about the blitz pick-up and hoping for home runs instead of hot reads

I am probably more confident for this game than I should be

If you are confident at all, this is correct. Not that they can't and shouldn't win. Just that they haven't shown they actually will with any confidence yet.

I'm being a bit subjective with the definition of "good/bad" but I think you could argue they haven't lost to a bad QB since week 12 of 2022, I think

The D is good enough that the floor confidence level should be pretty high the rest of the way.

The O confidence level on the other hand... Well rookie QB, even a Caleb Williams.

Once he breaks through though, there will be no turning back.
