Assad - 3.04 ERA

Steele - 3.08 ERA

If you had told me before the season that Steele would rank 4th amongst Cubs starters in ERA at 3.08, I would have guessed a 100-win pace at minimum.   I know offense is down,  but this horrsefeathers is crazy.

The fact that Taillon has quietly rebounded is the most infuriating thing about this season, to me.  It'd be one thing if this team only had one good starter with a bunch of schmucks, but it finally feels like they have a really good rotation for the first time since 2017, only the offense and bullpen are actively trying to burn the team down for the insurance money.

So basically it's a top 10 starting staff despite the injuries, despite Kyle completely tanking the first 1/3 of a season.

K/9= 9.53(4th)

BB/9= 4.48(28th)

 

Basically a bottom 5 pen and trending downward

So they're good at taking walks and stealing bases, and that's about it. A climbing K% and no SLG to speak of.

There's no point in watching these games.   They don't score, and when they do or the SP is excellent the pen blows their leads.  It's a miracle their record isn't worse than it is.

Good starters.  Nothing else.  Not many teams have that composition where the first 5 or 6 innings they are almost always in the game and then usually the floor drops out.

It was a legit single, but yeah, PCA was on the move and the ball kinda died in short left center

Pretty much that, except not necessarily Amaya being slow that prevented the double.  It would have been an easy play at second if he tried to advance.

Since the Mexico game and NBA draft are over, I decided to flip to this game for the first time tonight and immediately see Morel get picked off on a back pick from the catcher and immediately flipped to another channel.   Yeah no thanks I’m good
