Worst part is that these are the “high leverage” arms that struggled today. And Almonte who just sucks. Hoyer just won’t learn that his scrap heap bullpens don’t work.

It's why I think Horton and Brown end up in the pen this year. Yeah, you can sometimes find a gem among reclamation projects, but when most of your pen is reclamation projects, woof.

So Jed saw the Cubs lose 5 games that they had a lead in the 8th last September causing them to miss the playoffs by 1 game and decided to fix it with Almonte and Neris?  Poor Tom still suffering those biblical losses.

In isolation its 1 game and whatever horsefeathers happens sometimes, but if they lose this it will be the 2nd time in 6 games that they blew an 8th inning lead and lost after tying a MLB record last September for games blown with a lead in the 8th or later.

Sometimes relievers will give up runs

Yeah that’s why the good ones that give up runs less often get paid more money

I feel like the Rockies will make many, many errors leading to runs this year.

I vote we never take a big lead against the Rockies in a night game at Wrigley Field again.  Crazy horsefeathers frequently happens when we play this team.

I'm tired already of Almonte and Mastro, hopefully these guys are not called on in August/September

I hope they're called on in October

If the Cubs are incredibly good this year, like best in the league good, they will lose 60 games.  Two *months* worth of crummy starting pitching, blown leads, weak contact, and striking out in clutch.  Happens to everyone, the best teams, that ones that pay all the money, whatever.  Sometimes a bad thing that happens in an individual game is just that, a bad thing that isn't a team's character flaw.  When it's the 6th game of the season, and you're freaking out about not spending enough when Neris blew the lead and like 2 guys signed for money than him, it's definitely that and not a character flaw in the team.
