I think FSU is capped at 4 if they win. Texas jumps to 3 because everyone knows they are better but you can't leave FSU out entirely even though Alabama is better.

So Louisville really needs to win.

lol, Michigan is going to be 1 seed and get rolled by Georgia or Alabama

I don’t think they can play Georgia. Georgia is out with a UM win IMO.  But yeah this sucks. Hoping the Texas H2H win allows them to get in over Bama if UM and FSU both win

Could put Bama in over FSU regardless of whether they win, especially if it’s a close game.  Because Bama is just a better team and it’s not fair but a huge fan base wants an SEC team in there.

The committee consistently put Georgia as the best undefeated team and Texas has never gotten above 7th in their rankings, I don't think it's at all certain that Georgia losing to Bama by 3 and Texas handling Oklahoma State is bridging the gap between them.

It would be a fitting end to the 4-team format if the committee went Michigan, Washington, Alabama, Georgia

Fair point. But they do claim conference championships are important unless one team is unequivocally better. Maybe they think UGA is unequivocally.

also not to get too far into transitive property but Texas beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa, while Georgia lost to Alabama at a neutral site that is almost a home game given the location (it’s in ATL right?)

Not that you’re saying it would or could happen, but there’s no way Georgia gets in over Texas.

If you follow TT's logic, #7 winning over Ok St. vs. #1 losing a close one to Bama....

His logic is a bit flawed because it’s not just those two results. One team in between them has already lost, a second didn’t even play in the conference title game (OSU, and we know the committee priorities winning your conference) and there might be a third that loses (FSU). So you’re not bridging the gap between 7 and 1 so much as you’re bridging the gap between 5 and 1.

It will be a complete sham if FSU loses and Texas gets left out.

I thought I saw an interview today where someone from the selection committee said neither SEC team looked clearly better than the others.

But that sounds like something you say before you really have to make a tough call on it.

Watching FSU, they don’t belong in the CFP over either Bama or Georgia.  They aren’t playing the same level of football as the top SEC teams.

They’re not according to the computer rankings. Before the week in Sagarin, Georgia was 3 and Bama 5 while SP+ has Georgia 2 and Bama 8.

No way they leave out the 12-1 SEC Champions who just beat the two time defending champs and #1 team. That’s ludicrous.

You could maybe sell me on putting Bama in over FSU due to the injury. I wouldn't do it personally. An undefeated major conference team gets in unless there are five of them.

My vote would be Michigan, Washington, Texas and FSU in that order. Sorry Bama. Shouldn't have lost at home to Texas.

I think it seems fitting that the final year of the (always moronic) 4 team playoff with 5 power conferences finally omits the SEC, as they have each other conference at least once since its inception.

Besides, if you look at the computers, Ohio State is the best 1 loss team and nobody seems to be stanning for them.

How about Texas just joins the SEC tonight and the SEC has a team in the CFP?

Seriously though this is insane…in retrospect the CFP has been really lucky to not have too many controversial decisions like this. The first CFP was controversial, the last one is going to be controversial, but in between it’s mostly been easy

After seeing Iowa first hand, I now just feel really bad that their offense was so bad. That defense is incredible.

I find the booze helps. What I really appreciate about what Phil Parker does is that it’s being done without a wealth of blue chippers. They now have 6 of the last 12 DBs of the year in the league; 3 of those guys were 2* recruits and the others were 3* with no other P5 offers.

Ironically enough, this would be a year where the classic 8 team playoff proposal would work perfectly:

5 power conference champs: Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas, Alabama
Group of 5 best team: Liberty (hey, they were also undefeated)
2 at-arge teams: Georgia, Ohio State

The thing I really find amusing is that coming into the weekend, everyone was prepared for this outcome and to take Texas and the 3 unbeatens, and it's shown that way in every "predictor" (try ESPN's, it's free) that is how it would shake out, and everyone seemed fine with it, until it actually happened and suddenly it's unimaginable that Alabama could be left out after never looking like a top 4 team all season.

It's Michigan vs FSU and Washington vs Texas and me probably not watching a single down of the playoff, this is really a pretty easy decision based on everything that's ever been done with these selections

I found it hilarious that tonight ESPN just got done saying how Texas and Bama will pass FSU, then they showed their "Playoff Predictor" graphic that showed that FSU has a 97% chance of making the playoff.

Yup I agree. Michigan is +105 to win the national title.  To me that says no SEC team in final 4.
