Bagent is a bad quarterback, please people realize this.

I think all of the following are true

1) Bagent is a bad QB

2) Bagent might be the best QB on the roster

3) I think if you keep him around as a long-term project, he has some interesting upside

4) I don't like him enough to force anything, if he never gets his big break so be it, we still need to be drafting one next year.

How are you still sticking with #2, it absolutely baffles me. He's literally throwing twice as many picks as TDs. He is not a better QB than Fields.

I don't think he is good, but I think he has shown enough to indicate he can be a passable backup QB.  If a team needs to start their backup for several games, they are probably screwed anyway.  I'm fine hanging on to Bagent as the backup to whoever is the long term answer.

As up and down as Fields has been and as surprising as Bagent has been, I still don’t think it’s particularly close in terms of who’s the better QB. (It’s Fields) ((we still should probably draft one of the qb prospects))

I don't think you appreciate how bad I think Justin Fields is.

This is where I fall. If you need him to start 2-3 games, he might not lose you those games, but don't expect anything more than Shane Matthews.

These injured Fields games are especially punishing because really the only purpose of the 2023 Bears from here on out is to scout and develop your own talent and it’s be nice to have 8 games to have a final look at Fields before the draft.

Like, if Fields ripped off 8 straight excellent games, I’d maybe reassess where things are at with him. But this is just…nothing

I think the upside is there to be more than a backup. I think the arm strength *could* improve over a couple of years because I think it's more mechanics than physical limitations.

Obviously he'd have to stop being fooled by disguised coverages too, but every rookie has to learn to adapt to those.

Bagent has two issues:

1) A weak and inconsistent arm. (I suspect this is more mechanics than raw strength).

2) Tendency to throw INT-worthy balls due to overconfidence and being fooled by pro defenses

The first one *might* befixable over years. Maybe it's not.
The second one is something every rookie QB goes through. Maybe he adapts, maybe he doesn't, but I'd rather have to teach an aggressive guy to be more prudent than try to teach a guy to be more aggressive.

I’m not mad that they’re blitzing and I’m ok with them beating us on the blitz, it’s 100000x better than getting zero pressure and just letting QBs sit there quietly picking us apart. At least on the blitz we got a chance to make a play

We have spent too many draft picks on DBs to be this bad in coverage

Coverage isn’t the problem my friend
