Took a LaVine prop (under 36.5 points/rebounds/assists) and the Magic ML last night. Made me sweat a bit late but both were mostly stress free wagers all night.

If this is going to be anything like the Whote Sox rebuild, we'll find out that Vinny Del Negro has been secretly consulting with Jerry Reinsdorf behind AK's back, resulting in Billy Donovan and the front office getting cleared out in the offseason with Kirk Hinrich being named the new GM and Jimmer Fredette taking over as HC.

Sky is blue. Water is wet. Bulls lose. Onto the next L.

I wasn’t expecting very much from the Bulls this year but I was hoping they could at least play at a 35-40 win pace and occasionally have some exciting games. This has been a complete trainwreck, which is actually probably better for the Bulls long term but still pathetic.

It’s been 8 years since we had a decent roster that we could be excited about outside of 3 months with Lonzo. The Bulls are farther away from anything resembling a fun team that they’ve been in any point of those 8 years. It’s ridiculous and why I’ve only watched like 10 minutes of Bulls basketball this year. The apathy is very strong.

I don't even hate watch the Bulls. I only follow them through boxscores and message boards. The Bulls are in hibernation.

Imagine that, you bring back the same mediocre to bad team from last year and they're bad this year. Who would have thought? At this point I honestly think you could gather up all the ex bulls around the league and put together a better team than what they have right now.

Do they have any draft picks at all?

If I remember correctly, they don't have a 2nd until something stupid like 2028. This team is in about as bad a place as is possible.

They have their 1st rounder in 2024 and if they have a top-10 pick in 2025 it’s the Bulls’ pick (11+ goes to the Spurs)

Feeling pretty safe at this point.

From what I'm seeing, the 2024 NBA Draft isn't looking like the sort of draft that changes a franchise overnight..

Then again, anyone they draft will either be trash or won't be any good until after the Bulls trade them for pennies on the dollar.

They'll draft the same type - athletic but, suck at basketball.  Pat Williams, Terry, Phillips all the same player, not a one of them can shoot or do anything basketball related well.

Their lack of success with 1st round picks is almost  amazing in that they could be so bad.

2022: Dalen Terry has played 11 minutes this year.

2020: Williams in year 4 is playing 23 minutes a game and averaging 6.4 points on 34.3 FG%.

2019: Coby White is at best a bench player on any decent team, but sadly the best of their recent 1st rounders that they kept.

2018: Wendell Carter was their best recent 1st round pick and of course they traded him. He averaged a double double 2 years ago and nearly did it again last year.

2017: Justin Patton was out of the league in March of 2021 after a career averaging 3.9 PPG

I'm pretty sure Justin Patton is a made up name.  Never heard of the guy.

He was a piece traded along with Jimmy Butler that netted the Bulls #7(Lauri Markannen), Lavine and Kris Dunn.

Out of the 4 Bulls first round picks that turned into solid NBA players since Jimmy Butler was drafted, 3 of them were traded away before they fully developed.  That would be Portis, Markkanen and Wendell Carter. The 4th is Coby White I guess.  In general the Bulls 1st round picks since Butler are a complete wasteland of NBA busts

 2012 - Marcus Teague

2013 - Tony Snell

2014 - Doug McDermott

2015 - Portis

2016 - Denzel Valentine

2017 - Markkanen

2018 - Carter Jr

2018 - Chandler Hutchison

2019 - Coby White

2020 - Patrick Williams

2022 - Dalen Terry

Yikes, most of them are so bad they weren’t even able to craft out a spot as a role player

Taking a look at 2017 on (the transition from the Butler to LaVine era), I think it really boils down to their inability to develop or sign a solid true point guard, and the one true point guard they signed since then has been injured pretty much his entire time on the Bulls. It's hard even looking back at the picks since then and thinking who they could've picked that would've made a difference outside the 2018 draft since most of the players picked around them weren't much better.

2017 - Markkanen - probably the right pick, better than the next 5 players drafted, but ended up trading for Derrick Jones and a lottery-protected pick that end up being protected

2018 - Carter Jr - a solid pick given the players drafted immediately above and below, but SGA or one of the Bridges would have been the right pick.

2018 - Chandler Hutchison - what was with their strange obsession with this guy? I remember everyone knew he was going to the Bulls. There was actually quite a bit of talent drafted after him (Mo Wagner, Shamet, Robert Williams, Brunson, Mitchell Robinson).

2019 - Coby White - they finally draft a "PG", but he averages less assists per game than Zion. I don't know who else they would have taken here that would be better though.

2020 - Patrick Williams - has never taken that next step, but still young and averages more PPG than the rest of the top 10 after him that year. The obvious answer would have been Haliburton, but he was picked 8 picks later.

2022 - Dalen Terry - not looking so good here, but wasn't a lottery pick

I think development is also a concern. Lauri, Wendell, Coby, and Patrick all seem/seemed to have hit a peak in year 3/4 and not take it to the next step. Lauri and Wendell both broke out after being traded, so it makes me wonder if Coby or Patrick would take off in another system.
