He had a tough time locating arm-side for the first inning but settled in nicely. He made one of the best plays off the mound that I've seen a Cubs pitcher make in some time. Really had to be perfect to get DLC and he was.

With a 3 run lead, I'm not opposed to saving Leiter for Game 2 and trying to steal an inning out of someone else in the 8th.

With the bottom of the order coming up that makes sense. Then if the Cubs tack on more next inning maybe you can even save Alzolay.

Even if it's a three run lead, Alzolay should stay in the bullpen. The win expectancy of a three run lead in the ninth is just shy of 97%; that's not a situation you use your closer on a normal day, much less a doubleheader.
