Week 1 - Packers @ Bears - Soldier Field - September 10th 3:25PM

Posted (edited)

I want the Cubs to be good again but I have zero emotional attachment to this team thanks to the way PTR has pretty much killed my lifetime love of the Cubs. Plus we just had the WS celebration 7 years ago.

I desperately want the Bears to get back to the mountaintop and that starts with skull horsefeathers the goddamn Packers.

My hope is that Jordan Love turns out to be something like Daniel Jones. Probably too good to let go without having another plan in place, but not good enough to lead them anywhere.

Here's another question...

If you could pick either scenario, which are you taking?  Big disclaimer - there are no long term ramifications to be gleaned. It will have no bearing on the future of either QB - good or bad.

1) Fields balls out, 350+ yards and 3+ TD, Love is bad, and the Bears win big. Brewers sweep the Cubs.

2) Jordan Love balls out, Fields is bad, Bears lose. Cubs sweep Brewers.

I'm picking the first one but feeling a little dirty about it.

I have a feeling I know what PacklandVA is gonna pick.

1 would be better as a sports fan.  2 would be more fun as a doom boner.

Depends on how Love plays TBH.  For my sanity, Love has to turn out to be a bust, or at least not a HOF level QB

Bears lose and it's bad either way. LOL. Either Fields plays well and Love plays similar or better and the Bears have a breakdown somewhere else (non Fields turnovers, special teams) or Fields plays not as well. Not too many scenarios where Fields plays well, Love plays as bad as my sanity needs him to play, and the Bears actually lose the game.

A smile so nice, you had to post it twice.

I literally even started posting notes on what he said a few hours ago lol

I remember when I used to love these guys, especially 54. That was a long time ago.

Am I missing something with posting this now/here?  Did something come up recently about this?

I just saw it. I guess it is an old clip. My bad.

Ah, gotcha.  Maybe it's been circulating again because the anniversary just passed.  Yeah, that pissed me off too.  Can't say I'm surprised that either one of them are Trumpers though.

Yeah, most athletes are square in the "White guys that never really had to work hard for anything in their life" demographic that is Trump's bread and butter.

Pretty sure it was posted the other day when he was cut

Peterman was cut today and will likely end up on the practice squad as QB3.  PJ Walker was cut the other day.  I suppose there was still some crazy possibility where the Bears made Peterman the backup and today's news ensures that won't happen.

Colt McCoy and Carson Wentz are still out there though.  Also I feel obligated to point out that Colin Kaepernick is available as well.

No one is ever giving him a shot at this point as much as I would like to see it happen.

Bears have picked up a DB, a DE and a kick returnor off waivers.

A totally unproven DE (they waived Lewis) and a DB that was an undrafted free agent this summer.

Is Velus gone? Or moving to practice squad?

Feels like Velus to PS has to happen (though they have announced initial practice squad). I don't think there's any risk he's picked up by anyone and there's no space for him on the 53.
