I don't necessarily subscribe to the belief that the White Sox are a rival, but I consider them a team you want to beat more than most.  But if you consider them a rival, a 7 game winning streak consisting entirely of beating your rivals is quite fun.

Credit where credit is due... Smyly got off to a rocky start, but ultimately it worked.  So I'll eat crow this time.  Whatever Ross' reasons were for pulling Wesneski after 2, it worked out in the end.

sorry chip

Thank you for this. I was going to search it out anyway for pure enjoyment like I used to with a Hawk call of any White Sox walk off loss.

Things that are missed from when the Cubs were competitive. Like Kato Kaelin brewers meltdowns on Twitter!!

Giants lose to the Red Sox which I believe means the Cubs will finish the night 3.5 GB the Wild Card.

Reds are leading the dodgers 6-5 in the 8th. If the Dodgers come back, the cubs would still be 3.5 GB but the Marlins would jump back into WC3 over the Reds

arizona lost to Seattle and fall 1 GB the final WC, and 2.5 ahead of the Cubs

Hats off to Wesneski and Smyly. Things could have went bad for Wes after the leadoff homer, but he locked it in. Smyly coming in and pitching well. 10 K’s between the two of them.

They did well, nice to see Smyly have a good outing.  They limited his pitches to 61, a good idea given his struggles and the heat.

Incredible fielding by Nico, Swanson, and Tauchman in the 9th.

This team is filled with great competitors with high baseball IQ's, they work great AB's, play very good defense, and run well and the front office deserves credit on all that because its been their plan.  The way the 90's Braves and Torre-era Yankees used to play ball (minus some of the athletic talent LOL).

The FO has to be buyers now when all your guys are laying out 100% on the field to grind out wins in the biggest games of the year.  Still lacking in HR power and relief depth but they can handle the lights in Oct it seems at least.
