This Bulls team is strange. They never look really smooth or impressive, but they manage to get the other team to look bad also lately. It's tough to say what exactly they need to be a championship contender, because every championship team in recent memory, with the exception of the Pistons, have had superstars. The Bulls don't have one.

I think the Bulls definitely need to keep Curry and Chandler. Curry is the offense in the post, Chandler is the defense. They need both.

Good win for the Bulls tonight. I think tonights win should shut up anybody who was saying that the Bulls were playing weak opponents and such for the reason they were doing so well. Kirk Hinrich just keeps impressing the hell out of me. How he has all that energy I have no idea. I think by the end of the year this team is going to be very very tough. Deng, Duhon, and Gordan are used to playing alot of bball so hopefully they wont hit the rookie wall very hard. When are teams going to learn, dont bring it in on Tyson Chandler? The kid is a shot blocking animal. Whos next?

keener, you told me you were going to stop spelling it that way! you lied to me!!!!!!!!!!!

but anyway, bulls at .500, i smell some playoffs.

 Deng it, thats what I get for trying to play poker and write that at the same time. Alright Sulley, GordOn needs a nickname, so I can stop screwing his name up. Since it is you who keeps pointing my mistake out, it is your job to come up with the nickname

Bulls with a really busy week this week, another back to back Mon-Tues. Their schedule in Feb is brutal so they need all these games in Jan. Once again also, am I alone in being overly impressed with the way this team plays in the 2nd half usually? I dont know if its Skiles adjusting, or if its just this team, but I know there have been numerous games in the 3rd quarter where the Bulls go on a major run. I expect full reports Mon and Tues as I have to bartend Mon night, and Tues is my birthday so Im going to the boat. So full recaps expected, and greatly appreciated.

deng's only 19, he's going to get a lot better. it's scary how good that kid could get. he can do everything.

He isn't quick enough to cover most of the quicker 3s and can't cover the 2, can he be? Possibly, but the Bulls still need depth at the 3, and I would rather see that player be able to defend or hit the jumper, drafting a 3 doesn't equate to benching Deng or calling him a bust.

i doubt the bulls take a 2 or 3 with this theoretical pick, they did that with their first 2 last year. any playing time that a player like carney takes away from deng is impeding the development of a future all-star. i just really doubt that paxson goes that way again, especially as successful as last year's draft is turning out to be. btw- if we draft a 3 with the pick, i'd rather have fransisco garcia.

defense really isn't our problem anyways. if anything, i think we take a chance up front with a guy like simien or lorbek. if we go backcourt, i wouldn't mind luther or salim, guys who can fill it up from the outside.

No Tippin' Gordon.

doesn't have the ring to it that no tippin pippen does.

Which is why I think it's funny. 8-[

Ok guys, but the problem is that nickname still has Gordon in it. We are trying to get away from that so I can stop with the misspelling of it

They drafted a tweener in Gordon, it won't stunt the development of Deng. Garcia over Carney? Garcia is one dimensional and limited athletically. If the Bulls draft Head, they just might corner the market small 2 guards. Carney is a much better prospect than Garcia, if the Bulls did not draft the best player avail. when they pick b/c of fear of limiting playing time to Deng and go with a lesser player, Paxson should be canned.

yes, but, imo, head projects out as a combo guard that would be used, primarily as a point. better handles than gordon, better passer, much better defender.

as for garcia, one-dimensional? he can shoot, pass, rebound, play d, and he's a team leader. i've been watching carney for 3 years and i'm not all too impressed with him, comparitively. i'd rather have garcia.

yes, i'd like to draft the best player available, but if a guy comes up who fills a need for us, i say we take him. i wouldn't pass on turiaf, either. we probably aren't going to be drafting any instant starters, if we can keep our present team intact for next season. we need an upgrade to duhon, which is why i like head, but we're doing surpirsingly well with him in the lineup. so, i couldn't really care less about the draft, since, even if we get to keep the pick, it's not going to be a difference maker anyway.

our defense doen't need much help, and if we need a specialist, free agency is an option.

I like Duhon, and don't think we need to replace him. If he can start to hit the three with any consistency, he'll be a keeper. He'll never be an all-star obviously, but he plays great D, he can drive and dish, so add a three point shooter to that and he has many weapons. I'll even say he is a better on the ball defender than Hinrich. Especially fighting around picks. He is one of the best at that.

I agree with UK, I wouldn't want another undersized 2G. And while Garcia can do all those things on the college level, I don't see him doing that in the NBA. He will become a one-dimensional shooter. He just doesn't have the athletic ability to guard or take it to the basket against the quality NBA 2 guards. He's a lesser skilled, less athletic version of Reggie Miller. I like Kennedy Winston too, but I compare Carney to Richard Jefferson. He's a former track star from Indianapolis. He can run, jump, and may be the best athlete in the draft which means he will likely be able to defend.

I would rather the Bulls actually go with size over a guard though. From Rais' link there seems to be a lot of guys with size coming overseas.

I'm with raw and UK on drafting the bigger 2s and 3s. Our rotation in the backcourt are three 6'3" guys or shorter. This is a major liability against the Rips, Pierces and Kobes of the world - they have torched the Bulls this year. And it'd be nice to get a lockdown 3 sorta guy since the Bulls are in the same division as the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the NBA especially (well, the MLB too, but that's for different reasons), you HAVE to draft BPA.

I also would take Carney over Garcia any day of the week. Imo, we don't need a better backcourt player than Duhon - Duhon is a role player who's minutes will drop to about 20 when Gordon is ready to start everyday and play longer. Oh, and no Luther Head plz. The Bulls have one Illini already, that's enough. :P

I think they can get some size in the 2nd rd, there should be some bigger PF's who have size and rebounding skills, but limited offense.

So what's our draft status this year? We don't have a first rounder because of the Deng trade? It's a conditional 1st rounder? 'splain, please.

Phoenix can use the draft pick in 05' if it is not one of the 1st 3 picks, I forget the rules in 06', and in 07' it becomes an unconditional draft pick if the Suns use it then.

I thought that the Bulls draft is protected 1-3 this year, number 1 the next year and unconditional in 2007.

So if the Bulls get the first 3 picks in 2005 (doubtful because even if they make the lottery they'll have less then 3% chance) they keep the pick and it defers to next year, then in 2006 if they get the number 1 pick, the Bulls keep the pick and it defers to next year. Finally in 2007, no matter what pick the Bulls get it will goto the Suns if they haven't gotten a Bulls pick yet.

Regardless, if they don't get a top 3 pick this year, it's going to Phoenix.

It seemed risky at the time to trade Deng for that pick, but I would easily trade our 15th pick this year for Luol with so much upside.
