The Cubs are going for the sweep!

Also, are you Chicagoans getting the absolutely atrocious air quality we have in Minneapolis right now?

My device tells me that the AQI is 89 today for an amber/orangish level of alert.

In the Twins Cities, we could literally see the air yesterday. It's some of the worst air quality I've ever seen and I lived in Los Angeles for nine years and experienced more wildfires than I can count.

Outfield is crowded between Bellinger, Happ, Seiya, Morel, Tauchmann and Mastro

Mastro has played one (1) inning in the OF since he was sent down when Seiya got healthy, so I don't think he'd be part of the crowding.  Assuming he even survives the Bellinger roster move.

Corresponding move, Mastro or Mervis?

It has to be Mervis. He needs a reset at this point. Let him get going again in AAA and then bring him back up to play everyday later in the season.

It should really be Mastrobuoni.  He's not needed in the OF, Madrigal will be just as useful at 3B against RHP you want to shield Wisdom/Morel from, and even if Bellinger needs to play some 1B/DH for a bit there's no reason Mervis can't be the other one since Mancini/Morel/Wisdom all have their issues and would have platoon disadvantage.

Disagree, the contact has actually been improving steadily despite the results,  but he's getting incredibly poor babip. His Hard% is 43.1 which is very high and his med% is 32.8. Despite this he's sporting a .218 babip.

Oh, I agree with that, but I don't think David Ross necessarily does. If Bellinger being back in the lineup means that Mervis is only going to get 2 starts a week, then let him play everyday in Iowa.  I would much rather the Cubs continue to run Mervis out 4-5 days a week, but that clearly isn't going to happen right now.

Confirmed, its Mervis going down

sucks, I thought he was starting to put together some good ABs.  Sucks that this is likely to keep Tauchman playing every day.  I get his value, good defense and he's hitting in most situations, but he's not the future.  Mervis might be...I'm sure he'll be up again though

Mervis is bad but Mastrobuoni has literally no value to this team at all, I'm getting annoyed he's still here

carrying three catchers and starting the objectively worst one twice in three games in a huge series is an odd way to go about your business.

Considering that was Ross' role on the team in 2016, is anyone surprised?

Mervis has 0 to prove in AAA. He hits the ball hard af, has trouble with major league spin and needs time at this level to figure it out.  They've basically decided Wisdom is the light side of a platoon, so let Morel play 3rd vs RH with Mervis at 1B and Belli or Tauchman at DH.  Fire Mastro and Madrigal into the sun.

Yes as we’ve seen from guys like Madrigal going down and immediately crushing it, then coming back up and being unable to hit it out of the infield, I’m not sure there’s a point to working on things in Iowa.

Barnhart has left 4 on base in his 2 ABs but at least his catching has helped Stroman only allow 2 runs in 4 innings I guess?

1 out triple is stranded because our 8-9-1 hitters suck
