Guess what 32 idiots who own NFL team did this offseason...

Now that the details have been reported, the Adams deal is essentially 3 years 65 million, so.... not much more than Christian Kirk.

Pain.

I think the Packers will be ok, but this one definitely hurts.

Can't wait for the Pittsburgh portion of my family to be all high and mighty about Cleveland having a sexual abuser as a quarterback.

Was there bad blood with Adams and team or something or was he just insulted that they would suggest he play on the franchise tag?

New OT rules gaining momentum but I'm not sure if I love either

1) Every team is guaranteed a possession before sudden death

2) Team with ball first can win with a TD and 2pt conversion

I say both teams get a possession guaranteed: team with the ball first in OT cannot go for 2 if they score a TD, and the team with the ball second has to go for 2pt. Both teams get a possession and in 95% of scenarios we get a winner after 2 possessions unless no one scores. It puts some strategy behind the coin flip. Do you want the first possession where you'll have to force the opponent to score a TD and convert on a 2pt conversation, or the second position where you have control over winning outright

I don't have a strong feeling about either proposal - I do sort of like the strategy/choice infused into proposal #2 - but I would say if they make a change it should be for playoffs only.

Rule 1 is mostly pointless. Team 1 still has a huge first mover advantage. It will just be 2-1 instead of 1-0.

Rule 2 is interesting, but I don't think any team is giving up 1st possession still. And I'm not sure many will go for 2. So defacto same thing in most games.

Literally just killing the coin toss would be a bigger improvement than either of these IMO. But there are other ways I think they could also temper some of the first mover advantage. All would involve some sort of full timed period though.

Just continue play for a fixed amount of time.

YES! They’re so hung up on sudden death that they’re missing the obvious solution. Just play another ten minutes and whoever is winning at the end wins (or there’s a tie)

From rotoworld....

Speaking at the Owner's Meetings, Colts owner Jim Irsay said that the Colts explored a trade for a young quarterback that would have cost two first-round picks.

This was, of course, before they acquired Matt Ryan. The Colts were on the periphery of the Deshaun Watson talks before the Texans shut them out, but perhaps Chris Ballard had his eye on a different young quarterback as well. The trade never materialized and the Colts instead pivoted to Ryan.

This can't be referring to Watson, as his asking price started with three 1st rd picks. Who was it? Not going to ask if it was Fields, I don't think it was. Kyler? Tua?

Worth too much: Herbert, Lamar

Not worth that: Hurts, Mayfield, Jones, Darnold (duh)

Too soon: Mac, Lawrence, Z Wilson

RIP-Taysom Hill's QB career.

As expected, the chatter last offseason regarding Taysom's contract was much ado about nothing. All that money is not guaranteed and only kicks in if he's the QB. I do think he couyld be a really useful TE, though.

I watched part of the game he started at QB last year, there may have been a couple. I never paid much attention to him, but my god he is athletic.

I always said that he was great in a limited role. Think Randal El. Sean Payton fell in love with him and overused him. I do think he could be an awesome TE/slot.

Was Payton going too mad-scientist with him? Good for Allen to park him in his best spot and see what he can do. I would have been open to him in the Bears coaching cycle. He knew how to stop Brady, and had that defense rolling in general

100%. In the words of Payton's mentor, Bill Parcells, Sean sometimes "gets a little too cute". Don't get me wrong, he is maybe the best offensive playcaller of his generation, but sometimes he couldn't leave well enough alone. The double reverse to Reggie Bush in field goal range against the Bucs always comes to mind. Or the times when prime Brees would be rolling and Taysom would come in and kill all rhythm on offense.

I am cautiously optimistic that a HC Dennis Allen with Pete Carmichael continuing as OC will be most of the good things about Payton without the head scratcher moments. Putting Taysom into a roll that fits his skill set is a great sign.
