It has to be Watson, it's been heavily reported that the Dolphins ownership wanted him and Flores wanted no part of it. Ownership also wanted Tua when others wanted Justin Herbert.

I thought the reports were Flores wanted Watson.

I thought that as well

Although those may have been planted by Ross

yes.

It would be very disappointing to hear Flores was passed over for any HC position because of Ross spreading that rumor

Joe Schad reporting it was Brady, not Watson, that Ross was trying to arrange a meeting with, so another swing and a miss for me

I think he’s got them pinned. Definitely want to hear how they try to explain this one.

And it’s about damn time someone finally calls out the worst kept secret in the NFL.

This makes more sense right. This was before the Watson stuff. This would have been during Brady's final season in NE though so meeting with him before FA would be tampering which is why Flores refused?

Tampering between players/coaches/owners/agents in sports is a big nothing for me at this point. It’s rampant in every sport. The other stuff in the story is far more important and egregious, imo.

Makes sense. I'm sure Brady and Ross are friendly towards each other as Ross is one of the biggest Michigan boosters out there and Brady of course went to Michigan. That could explain away why Brady met Ross on a boat while under contract with the Patriots.

Funny thing is, for all the talk of Flores torpedoing his career, he is still interviewing with the last Saints and even gave them a heads up about this suit before filing it. Would be awesome if the Saints hired him after all this.

Art Shell is the paradigmatic example of the Black coaching experience in the NFL to me. In his first go with the Raiders he had winning seasons in 5 of his 6 years including his last two before being fired.

Didn’t get another head coaching gig for 12 years after that. It was the Raiders again. He was given one season and then fired again. The Raiders had 5 or fewer wins in the three seasons before and after he was there. So it’s not like he ruined a successful run in his single season. Never had a head coaching gig again.

Ironically, the Saints are all but certain to promote Dennis Allen to HC and are likely just going through the process with Flores. That has been the plan for when Payton retires for years.

We'll see how that plays out then. The last thing any team wants to do is give the impression that Flores is a Rooney Rule interview

The have interviewed or will interview Aaron Glenn, Leftwich, Flores, Pederson and Dennis Allen, so they are at least giving the impression that they're doing their due dilligence. Payton and Loomis have indicated in the past that they like to interview candidates sometimes just to learn the philosophy of other teams' staffs.

As somebody who recently got an A- in their torts class, I can state with certainty that this case will settle. The only cases that go to trial involve railroads and ships.

So far, I'm just glad the Bears haven't been implicated, not because I don't think they aren't terrible owners, it's more just hopeful they are indiscriminately terrible.

Bears owners are incompetent. But I don’t think they’re slime and I don’t question their desire to win. (Just their ability.) I’d be shocked if something came out about them like this.

Timing is kind of weird. Seems like he could have waited another week or two before filing. Apparently he was the only real roadblock to the Saints just promoting Dennis Allen. By all accounts they were (and maybe still are) intrigued by Flores.
